Well as this has cropped up a few times in the past I would thought I would do a post about MP3 players and the original headunit.

You can use CD changer port of the original headunit to play the MP3 player with.

You need an adaptor for the MP3 player. The one I have just allows the output to come through the headunit speakers. There are others available eg the Dension kit which also allows you to control the MP3 player i.e. skip tracks etc but only if you have an iPod.

The one I have is an adaptor that plugs into the cd changer port of the head unit then, it plugs into a little box of tricks which gives you a 2 x phono output. I then just plugged a lead that went from the phono leads to 3.5mm jack, which you just plug into your MP3 player.

The adaptor costs about £65 and the model number is HonS3 and is available

I hid the box behind the glovebox then had the cable go from there under the gearbox cubby hole, so I can easily get to the MP3 player but keep it out of sight.

Cable fitted through a little hole. The plastic is so thin you can just punch through it with a screwdriver then file it to make it bigger.

Job Done

The pics were done, when I fitted it to my sport. But its the same when I fitted it to the CTR.

Nice one Paul !

MES and Autoleads can also supply these adapters, incase anyone wants an alternative

...It just a shame the stock headunit and speakers are a load of tripe
