lol who you going to rope into doing this for you Stu.
Its fairly easy if you can snap connect the ecu rpm wire, plus you've got power and ground already as haven't you got a terminal block thats hardwired into the cig lighter?
Positioning I've got mine on the steering wheel column although I may move it.

Don't tell me your fitting this yourself Stu.
I'm soldering my wires on the weekend Carl as the snap connector failed. :P

Your best to solder them on as the snap connectors are too big for how much room you have, also alot better connection.

Try that

Ok we have encountered a problem
Its all wired up however the RPM signal on the wiring diagram N77 posted is different to the actual layout.
We have power and can mess about with the settings when the ignition is on, But when the engine is running and you go past the 'lowest' point and the 'shift' point the lights do not illuminate.
Can someone confirm which is the RPM signal wire?
Cheers.

If memory serves me then yes I think it is a blue colour, car is too far away for me to be arsed to look or I would of

Weird.. Its just the lights wont illuminate (they do work as they come on in the set up mode) Im not sure if its the blue and silver one its tapped in to - Gary can confirm :)
just check mine again and I'm pretty sure its the blue one you want, maybe try soldering it?

It seems to work ok in the set up stages mate.. Would that indicate there is a good connection?

The wire u need is No.26 its a blue wire. There should be a yellow one on one side with a gap in between them and a red/blue on the other witha gap between them hope this helps

IS it best to solder the RPM wire?
fonzeka

It is the blue cable on ecu pin E26, looks like you got the right one so you probably got some kind of connection trouble.
Try soldering.
Here's a picture how I mounted mine:
http://hem.bredband.net/fonzeka/bilder/bil/shift.jpg
you may need to mount it on the other side though :D

Sounds wierd stu, if it doesn't detect anything on the RPM wire doesn't it show Err?

I dont know mate - I really dont, Perhaps it does need soldering :smt102

Mine worked ok with the snap connector for a while, I had to reseat it quite a few times to try and get a connection when I first installed it. Ended up soldering it in the end as it kept saying I was stalling.

We had the stalling setting as off..

They take a bit to set up make sure you set a lower and upper boundry and also that you have the corrent cylinder setting.
The Apillar is the best place for it and hide the wire down, the A-Pillar thats how I done mine

Ill try soldering it for you tomorrow Stu.
Just finished changing my brakes and new fluid. Messy now :x
It seems like its getting power and working ok, but its just not receiving an RPM signal to 'work' if that makes sense?

Cheers Ben for the diagram. :)
It would appear that it just needed soldering after all :D
A few test runs down the Needingworth bypass later and now I have the perfect shift change
Big thanks too Gary and his old man for the help, I will get the beers in next time Im in St Ives :smt023
It looks rather cool -The light order is Blue Blue Blue Orange Red

No mate unfortunatley the wiring wasn't long enough to put it there. I have it above the two air vents above the stereo. Its not distracting and I can see the lights out of the corner of my eye
See I did tell ya :P

There was a coonection using the snap connectors but by the looks of things it wasn't strong enough :)
