Anyone any experience with these??
I'm looking for a cheap temporey way to connect my iPod to my factory HU, i don't want to bother with iTrip or any other wireless jobbies as imo they're a bit crap. So i've been looking at wired FM modulators that plug in the ariel socket on the HU, are these any good???
Like this one. (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Stereo-FM-RF-Modulator-UK-Supplier_W0QQitemZ9725693241QQcategoryZ1498QQrdZ1Q QcmdZViewItem)

I've got one in my civic and the verdict?? - AVERAGE...
I've got it playing music videos and the TV so i dont really mind the sound distortion but expect sound just like you do with the radio stations...

When i get my new car i'll get a denson ice-link, but at £100 i can't justify getting one for my CTR as they're car specific...

Is there no AUX imput on the standard HU?
If there is can't you just get a connector that will go from the headphone output on the iPod to the AUX in?
I know you won't be able to control the iPod, but @ least you could listen to your tunes & it should be a decent quality.

There is no aux input on the standard H/U. Just a CD changer socket....

so have you got a factory headunit or an aftermarket one?
The best way to connect an iPod is directly through to the headunit and so that you can control it from there to without having to fiddle about with the iPod itself and also with direct link like that there is no loss in quality like there would be through an FM transmitter, etc...
You can get decent after market units with the iPod connection for under £100.
Mine is the Kenwood KDC w7031 and it works a treat with the iPod! :-)
Got it from here: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_path/286_297/spd/ipod-ready---aux-input-stereos.html
However this option is if you want to change your factory hu, lol!

Mate, I'm sure it cannot be done through the factory hu.. I did check for a mate of mine a while back and it seems that it can't be done unless thru the FM transmitter...
Best bet is the aftermarket unit I posted before... it's very very good and you'll never need to change a CD again! :-)

Might be a dumb idea, but if you could get your hands on a standard auto changer lead, could you not get someone all clued up to chop one end off & fit the necessary plug/s?
Just an idea mate

I have thought of this, but like i said, iirc the CD changer socket in the h/u is a honda specific one so that means i need a honda cd changer cable and i doubt they're cheap, espacially to chop it up.....

This is what I have, I ordered one from that site, the 1st got lost then they sent another one for free but I had to upgrade to tracked delivery.
Finally got here and it was the wrong one  Which was a waste of £70
I ended up with one from the a UK company, I'll search for it.....
found it here
http://type-r-owners.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=399
from a company called icd limited.
A friend from work bought a FM modulator from the States the quality was ok but no where near as good a direct connection. The advantage is you could plug in a SD or USB memory stick with MP3s loads on them and it plays them

Cheers Paul, i've email ICD but as yet has no response, but i have found this adaptor (http://www.caraudioplus.co.uk/Honda_CD_Changer_Adapter_3_%28Pioneer%29) which i'm amsuming is the the same as yours, id doesn't mention any aux inputs but i'll email and ask.
