It did solve the problem. I opted to buy a new one just to avoid the risk of it doing the same thing. Changed both rears at the same time. I got them off Brake Parts if your interested. Hope that sorts it bud.

Near Edgbaston sides I also had the oil changed few months back with them. So do you get clear readings after the warm check? Or is the oil splatter everywhere on the dipstick.

Which shoft shifter did you go for - tegiwa? I have read that the throw from 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th are worse with the short shifter but the vertical throws e.g 1st to 2nd are better. Did you do both at the same time, which one made more of a difference?
