'06 Cosmic Prem K100 EP3 - Written off

Afternoon all,

I'm not new to the forum but haven't posted in a while, even when I had my last Type-R I didn't post much to be honest.

Anyway, after owning a DC2 for a year I sold that and owned a Z4 35i for 4 months. Lots of power and torque (300bhp and 295lb-ft) thanks to the two turbos, but that didn't make up for the lack of fun and excitement it sincerely lacked (and the 450kg over the Teg it carried) . So after deciding to move back towards the light, I looked at a couple of cars last weekend and managed to purchase my first EP3 and get back into a Type-R :) As the title says, it's a Cosmic Grey Premier Edition, with the following spec;

-2006
-87k miles
-FSH (half Honda, half Independent)
-2 Previous Owners
-Big service 12 months ago (oil & filter, Discs & pads, Belt & tensioner)
-12 months MOT
-Unknown Axleback exhaust
-Leather gear knob gaiter
-Pioneer Headunit
-6000/8000k HID's (unsure as to which, but they're pretty blue)
-LED Sidelights and rear plate lights

I'm really happy with it. Gave it a good clean & wax this morning before going out to get some pictures. Both the interior and exterior are pretty mint! The recaro's almost look untouched, as does most of the interior. There's a couple of marks on the rear bumper and boot but nothing major. It has slight rust on the rear arches but it certainly looks like just surface rust as it's only on the 1mm thick part of the arch and looks nowhere near as sinister as my old DC2's arches did (thank god).

I'll be looking to upgrade the suspension and brake setup over the coming years, as well as sort out the standard I/M/E breathing mods, then take to the track and see what I can do with it :)

Comments are welcome (good or bad)!

Tom

Looks great, also looks like the previous owner added a Rhino Lip to the front bumper :)

Great looking TypeR in the best colour ;)
seeing the front lip in black has given me an idea" great little detail :smt115

So I've had the Civic about 5 weeks now and I'm loving it!

The past few weeks i've just been cleaning up the car; full clay/polish/wax to give the car some TLC, restored the headlights, new front H badge, de-wipered the rear, painted front calipers, then managed to get an AEM V2 for a steal on eBay! So i've got some good noise back in my life :)

Just purchased some new brakes due to the current ones being on the way out/not performing well;
-RPB front discs
-Project Mµ NS400 pads
-RBF 600 Fluid

So look forward to getting them on and being able to stop better! Next on the list is eibach pro-kit (off a guy I know) and front/rear camber adjustables.

Thanks for reading :)

Very nice. As above, Cosmic is a great colour for the EP3. :smt023

Cracking post. Car looks like it has been well looked after. Wasn't a fan of the Cosmic Grey to behonest at first, but I have to say it has grown on me looks good.

Mugen UK HQ :D Awesome.

Not a fan of BMW's but you've had some mint cars. Love the EP3. I don't know why, but i'm seeing/hearing more of the EP3's more than ever before. Maybe there's something telling me to sell the FN2 and go back to the EP3. Hmmmmm.

Thanks! I've always liked Cosmic Grey so glad I managed to get one, but actually like all the EP3 colours :) Mugen is near enough to me so it's rude not to get a pic!

Thanks Mr.H, I'm not the biggest BMW fan either but the oppurtunity to own the z4 wasn't to be missed. The 3.0 twin-turbo engine was a powerhouse and lovely to drive, just wasn't my kind of car. Not fun enough!

Go back to an EP3 I say! But I am biased ;)

nice Cosmic, Nightrunner

Looks really well looked after.
Good photos.

So I managed to fit the discs and pads weekend before last with a friend, all done in an hour and a half so I'm happy to have a Honda without everything seized for once! Impressions on the brakes are that once they've warmed up they are very good. Just about done 400 miles on them now so i'm starting to push them a bit more and seeing what they can do. They don't squeal like my old ones and definitely bite better, look pretty rad too :)

Past that, I tidied up the engine bay a bit and bought a sun-strip. I know it's not everyone's thing but I like it and think it changes mine a bit from other cosmic's.

Went to Mimms Honda Day two weeks ago and had a great day with friends, getting inspiration from some very well specced EP3's with some crazy aero going on! Definitely recommend going to a Mimms if you haven't gone before.

The plan now is to do an oil & filter change on one of the upcoming weekends, then soon i think i'll take the dive and get some coilovers. Since I plan to take it on track and really want the adjustability again, they seem the right decision for me and will suit my needs for my ownership. I went for MeisterR's on the Teg, so think I'll go for them again as was really impressed. Along with the coilovers I'll be going for superpro ARB bushes, uprated rear ARB, eibach camber arms/bolts, and the famed FRSU. With all this I hope the car will be very well setup for me and I reckon it'll be on a similar level to the Teg, in handling terms. I really am impressed with it so far for a stock car, if only the steering wasn't so heavily assisted and had a bit more feel. As said before I don't think people give it enough credit!

Hopefully this will be done by early next year, so I can continue to improve my skills with the car and then get onto my first track day next year :)

Picture time :)

Thanks,

Evening all, thought i'd do a quick little update, even though as not much has happened with the car and not much will for a bit of time.

Carried out the oil & filter change a couple of weeks ago and it went very smoothly (for my first oil change on a car!). Glad I did it as the oil that came out was pretty damn dark. The filter wasn't on there too tight either so that came off easily enough. Past this, I've just been trying to clean it every weekend but with parking under a tree all week, the tree sap is making the car absolutely filthy, which isn't funny at all! I'm moving house next weekend to an area where there are no trees anywhere near where I park, so this will solve that problem :)

The plan next is to replace the front ARB bushes, droplinks and possibly track rod ends as I've heard a slight knock on the front left a few times, so want to resolve this before I do anything else. Will be going for Tegiwa stiffer drop links and SuperPro bushes, so that should sort out a bit of the roll too.

I was told by the previous owner that the timing chain needs replacing, so I could do with getting this diagnosed before I commit and get it all replaced. Any recommendations of who can do this for me? (apart from Honda themselves, as I'm sure they'll want as much money from me as possible so will just say it does need.

For those who might be interested on how the brakes are getting on, I can say I am massively impressed! Once warmed up, they not only stop the car as quickly as you want, but they haven't faded once. And although I haven't been on track yet, I pushed them hard one evening this week and they didn't hiccup once (apart from ABS kicking in on one roundabout as it was bumpy).

I'm massively enjoying the car and can't wait to crack on with more modifications so I can get it closer to a level the Teg was on :)

Now for the proof :)
