Choosing new tyres best price and performance

The tyres arrived but the wheels is in the workshop waiting to be powder coated so I hope all stuff will be sorted soon. Ordered a new set of wheel nuts and center caps so once its done, I'll post some pics on here and see what you guys think of it.

Sorry mate. I've had some issue with my MRS so I had to put it back. But I am hoping to have it done in the next few weeks, just in time for the sunshine to hit high.

My two penneth.

I've now completed two track days in my Ep3 with Toyo T1R's fitted.

On the road i have found them to be fine in both the wet & dry.

On the track where they get used alot harder i found the side walls to be way too soft & them not to have enough grip which made cornering a very slow & frustrating process.

If only used on the road i think they are fine for the money, on track they can't cope.

I'm ordering a set of AD08R's come pay day :D

Toyo t1's are poo. The yoko will be a million times better.

A bit of feedback now i've had my AD08R's fitted for a few weeks & have done my first track day with them fitted.
On road the AD08s give a harsher ride as would be expected with the stiffer sidewalls. As a result the car rattles a bit more & feels a touch skittish.
They do inspire more confidence in the bends though, helped with all the lovely warm weather we've been having lately.
On track the AD08s are night & day better than the T1Rs. Much reduced tyre flex in the bends & significantly more grip.
So much grip that once off the brakes i could bury the throttle throughout every corner where as with the Toyos it would understeer & i'd have to get off the throttle regularly.

What size did you get?

I have to say I would disagree about several things. They actually improved the ride on my car made it less crashy and reduced road noise. I put this down to them being a softer compound. Also I wouldn't say they make the car feel skitty they improve the feel and handling lots! Are yours AD08R's or just normal (the old model)?

Mine are standard sizes, 205/45/17.
Did you go from T1Rs to the AD08Rs?
I live in the sticks, the roads are pretty rough & bumpy around here & i find the AD08s to be noticably more harsh than my Toyos were. Definately make my car feel more skittish.
Like i said, on track i find the Yokos to be miles better but if i'm honest the Toyos were nicer to live with on road.
Glad i kept the Toyos to put back on over the winter.
Mine are AD08Rs.

Ah mine are 215 x 40 x 17 although lower profile of expect an even cashier ride!

Can you do me a favour and stick some pics up please as is like to see how they look on the standard profile. Thanks.

Strange one that, i'd of assumed the lower profile to be less comfy too.
I'll stick up some pics in the next few days.

Maybe it's because my previous tyres were so pony that these offer a smoother ride! It is crashy but that's just because hard suspension and shitus roads around here. But not skitty though. Sticks like ***** to a blanket!

Ok will look forward to pics. Thanks dude.

Brilliant, you wont be disappointed. This is the only tyre I buy now, all the grip of an R888 with half the price and less wear. Ive run them on my Mini Cooper S and Impreza STI and both cars were stuck to the road. The tyre has a really predictable fall off too so you wont be caught out with sudden understeer.

Thanks panjy.

Crowds - pics when they're fitted please dude!

As promised pictures of Federal RS-R's on standard ride height EP3 (definitely needs lowering), the tyres are 215/40/17, I'll review them when I've done a few miles & a track day (Spa in September :) )

Just had my Toyo T1Rs refitted to the civic after approximately 1500 miles & two track days with the AD08Rs fitted.
Thought i'd post up how i've found both, hopefully will be of some use to someone in the future.

T1Rs - Good road tyre, plenty of grip on road but abit out of its depth on track. Really good wet weather grip & softer side walls make them much more compliant on road. In fact, the drive home from tyre fitters felt like i had had softer springs fitted when compared to the drive there an hour earlier with the AD08Rs fitted.

AD08Rs - Good on road with loads of grip although much stiffer sidewall makes the ride harsher. You get used to it though & the extra grip more than makes up for it. Surprised me by being fine in heavy rain, it was torrential on my way to Donington last week & i had no issues in standing water. Excellent on track, i completed track days at two tracks with these fitted, both which i had already completed earlier in the year with the Toyos fitted. The difference in grip throughout & traction out of corners was massive, i'll definately be fitting them to my next car, in fact i've only removed them because i'll be changing cars in the new year & these will be wasted over winter on the road.
If anyone is after a set give me a shout as mine have loads of life left in them & are now for sale at a fraction of the new price :)

You're right Lewis, they are fantastic.
I'm going to be changing cars before next years track day season though & the car i'm likely to buy (impreza sti) uses different sizes to the civic.
Hence, my current AD08s need to go as i already have a set of Toyos i'd rather use over the winter.
I will however be buying the same tyres for the impreza :)

Ah I see. So which size did you go for again? I would like an impreza too next actually. I love the wide track uk ones.
