DG's Cosmic EP3

Not much use to you but to give you an idea a couple of months back I went to red r performance in Northampton and paid £280 labour to fit my Honda clutch. Think the clutch was £175 from tegiwa or h tune.

That is a crazy amount of money. Standard clutch and fitting should be 500 absolute tops. Get more quotes. How far away are you from TGM?

I'm just over an hour from those guys so it's a possibility but would have to take some time off work to get that done. Thanks for the heads up.

That's good to know and reinforces my thoughts about this being way too expensive. I'm looking at other places now and just need to get somewhere reputable that won't half arse it!

I paid around £300 fitting costs and I bought an oem clutch for £158. Performance Autoworks in Fairford. Did a good job. Tgm in Fleet would be closest for you?

I went all the way to Grinspeed from near London, they fitted an LSD for me and stuck the new clutch in for free whilst the gearbox was out. Would still be going there if I still had a Civic, absolutely top notch service.

Welcome to the forum bud!

Car is looking good (albeit not in the fastest colour *cough* :p ) . As for the clutch, check out TGM in fleet. It's who I regularly use and they are highly praised for their work. I recently got my clutch done too and it was around the 450 mark I think, supplied and fitted (OEM honda clutch).

Thanks very much. I've been looking through your progression thread and yours looks SO good! Like Nidge's, it's given me some mega inspiration to get the work done on it! I know it's only a small bit of work, but the bonnet pull handle arrived today so I can stop using pliers to get the bonnet open. I'll get that fitted after work!

With TGM, did they do all the work while you wait or how did that work out? It's my daily and I need to work out how to manage that work as it's over an hour from me.

Thank you mate, mine still has a bit left to go before it's "complete" :D Sort of in pieces in the garage atm, awaiting respray. I also had a moment with the pliers though, was ghetto af but those memories are now finally behind me :D

As for TGM, I booked the car in for a day, dropped it off Tuesday evening after work and picked it up Wednesday Lunch time. I do have a spare car though, not sure how that'd work if it's your only car.

Small update for tonight as the new Bonnet Pull Handle arrived from eBay and I really wanted to do something with the car.

The plastic one snapped off leaving behind a mess but I was able to remove this with a small hacksaw blade to saw the remaining plastic off after taking off the lower door trim.

On goes the new handle! Please ignore the pedals, I'm getting round to that soon :D. Also I have no idea why they don't just put the little allen key screws on the left hand side, it would make life so much easier as this was way too fiddly after a day of work. My guess it's made for left hand drive cars.

On goes the trim again and now it's looking much better. I don't have to keep the pliers in the car anymore! Yes, yes, the mats are being replaced soon! :D

Here's where I got the handle from on eBay - https://bit.ly/2uKbRsh

Hi All,

Been a little while since I've updated the progress on the CTR, so here's a few updates!

I got the clutch done shortly after my last post by The Gearbox Specialists in Bournemouth mainly because they weren't far from me and I had heard good things about them. They did it for just over £600 which for the convenience of having them close to me while I worked from home was great and the process took no more than a day, as expected. The clutch feels a world apart from how it was before and it's such a pleasure to drive now :D Very happy.

Next up was the Climair Wind Deflectors which I bought from Amazon. The reason for this was because it was on Prime so I could get it quicker and the price on the Climair site was exVAT which ended up somewhere not far from the Amazon price. They arrived in a massive box which my boss assumed was an ironing board :D Each one was really easy to fit and did take a little persuasion to fit in place. I left them with the windows up for 24 hours and haven't had any troubles at all.

I had the battery strap arrive the next day so was happy to get to work on that as it seemed like a really simple job. The bolt closest to the bumper came away pretty easily and in the end I replaced it with a nice looking red screw that came from a pack I bought at the same time. The battery tie down rod however didn't loosen up so easily. It was pretty seized up so I let some WD40 get in there to try and free it up which felt like it was getting loose.. WRONG. The rod sheared off at the top completely. :( I promptly ordered another one from eBay which has now arrived and is working well.

Then a WHOLE bunch of things arrived at the same time as I went a little mad on eBay. First up is the rear tow hook which was dead easy to fit and I think looks really nice. Some people don't like it but I'm happy with what it does for the car.

Then I got the new headlights in as the old ones were way past using a restoration kit sadly. I didn't realise that you had to take the whole front bumper off to replace them but nonetheless I managed to get it done before it got too dark to see. I think they've come up really nice and make the front of the car look so much nicer.

I also replaced the screws on the headlights with the fancy red ones too so it's looking a little better with the bonnet up. :)

I finally got the mats I wanted from eBay and gave the interior and proper clean out before setting these in. It's changed the whole look of the inside of the car and it's much nicer to sit in.

Now for a few cheesy mods which I wanted to put in for the hell of it and for my own enjoyment. Such as Wizard Deadpool on the dashboard who I saw in a shop and was the perfect colours to go on the dash.

You can also see the new Sony stereo in that shot which is so much better than OEM. With Android, I got the SongPal app which lets me control Spotify using the stereo as well as with voice. You probably also noticed the Japanese show number plate on the dashboard. Another cheesy mod that I wanted and I think looks quite cool in the front.

I got some nice red Mugen door lock covers as well which were just some sticky back tape bits to hold it on to the lock fixture. I cleaned them up beforehand so it stuck properly on to the existing lock surround.

Lastly, for those of you who know Mighty Car Mods, I got some chopped fingers for the rear windscreen!

Overall I'm really happy with how the CTR is coming along so far and will be going to The Rise meet in Aldershot this weekend if anyone else is attending. Would be good to see some people from here! Let me know of what you think :)
