Do you think a 52 CTR is worth £12k

Went to see a CTR today (not my first  ) and have to admit it was immaculate with only 15,000 on the clock and a FHSH. The only problem is was that they wanted £12k for it; main Honda dealer that is without aircon.

I personally think this is too high but he wouldn't budge on price; I have a px as well so thats why I'm buying from a garage.

Do you think it's better to sell my car privately and then seek out a CTR privately, since the offer I had for my car wasn't that good either?

PS before anyone says I know I have been indecisive a bit recently and have never sold a car privately before

cheers

You have more bargaining power if you have no trade in, but it is a huge hassle to sell private.

If you sell your car 1st it can make you rush into buying a CTR that is not the best out there.

As they say all swings and roundabouts

Mine is a 52reg CTR which i'm planning on selling privately - it has air con/is black/40k miles and i'd be aiming for around £10k, maybe a little less

Dealers plough profit on top

I px'd my 03 in july and got 11 for it

really wanted more as mine had only done 11.7k miles and had A/C

I think the aftermarket exhaust and blitz lowered the price a little, but the tints and the front lip and grille didn't alter the value.

I think it is also overvalued. But because it is a main dealer they can get away with it!

I will probably put my car for sale in the locals and see how it goes from there.

thanks for the replies.

try selling yours privately, or at least stick it in the papers/autotrader for a week and see what the interest is

autotrader seems like a great place to research what different cars are being advertised for.... you can see which dealers/traders ask totally unrealistic prices

they may as well be common theives asking for that as everyone else said dealers are always well above actual value

I've seen a 04 for 13995 a 53 for 12995. So a 52 at 12K seems a bit expensive.

Youd be better buying private, getting it checked by RAC and then buying an extended warranty. If I was buying off dealer I be wanting a few years warranty in the price.

I paid £11,700 for mine in Feb and mine has A/C.

52, now with 32,500 on the clock.

Good point. Probably try selling mine in the classifieds first, see if it goes!

Although the car is 8) it's still three years old and doesn't have con air.
