Engine mounts

I have been having issues with steering wheel that needs constant minor corrections and randomly becomes loose/tight. Wheel alignment has been done, tyres balanced and swapped from rear to front, which rectified the issue but it has returned.

Took it to a different mechanic and he reckons the engine mounts are to blame and says they are perished and dangerous. Advised me not to drive it any further.

Ive attached some pics of mounts...is it really that bad?

Yep, they look knackered. Definitely need to get new ones. Your engine will be moving all over the place.
