HELP! my car is making weird noises

It sounds like a train when it's braking!

I am not 100% sure if the noise is coming from the front or rear brake :?

When I brake, the noise gets worse, so must definately be a brake.

When I pull the handbrake the noise changes, so that tells me it must be the rear brake.

I had to pull over 3 times on the way home from worl coz I was worried it was doing damage!

Oh and also when I am driving along and I turn the wheel to go round a right bend, the noise stops.

I changed the front pads and discs about 20,000 miles ago, so it cant be them. I have never had the rears changed. Now done 65,000 miles.

Do you think a trip to Honda is needed?

Sounds like the pads to me smeg.....20,000 miles on pads it pretty good......my old mondeo chewed them up at 18k...fronts and rears. :roll:
 
Is it doing any damage do you think?

The car is braking just as good as normal
 
I am not sure.....I know where petrol goes and oil...that's about it.

If your brakes are down to the metal you will damage the disks...check for any scoring on the disks just to make sure.......if it gets too worn down the brakes may seize...get welded to the disks by friction..(happened on my old Escort). :shock: :(

I would take it to a garage ASAP unless you have the time to take the wheels off yourself and have a look.
 
Aren't there indicators in the pads, which make the brakes "squeek" when the pads are at a level which requires them to be changed????

I'm no expert, but I would recommend you get it checked out.

There are indicators in the front not sure about the rear.

Lets hope its just the front then. I can cope with an indicator for a day or so.
 
iirc its a soft metal, makes a high pitch squeel, rather than a deep rumble could be wrong as its over 2yrs since I heard it, but with your wheel of you might be able to see if the pad is worn.
 
Mine were changed at 26,000 miles. Not alot of meat left on them though - ask Chris/Black R. 8)

If it alters while cornering, it may well be a wheel bearing on it's way out.

Regardless of brake noise or wheel bearing noise, have it checked out.

My mate also thinks it's a wheel bearing :shock:

I was a little unclear in my first post.

This noise doesn't just happen when i am braking. It's on and off. Whether Im going slow or fast.

I will take it to Honda tomorrow and get someone to look at it.
 
Could be a siezed rear calliper, i had that problem on my CTR and it made some weird noise man. I had it stripped and rebuilt and was fine. I also initially thought it was a wheel bearing at the time so check the calliper is moving properly.
 
Sounds like what I had on my old car Smeg, that turned out to be a wheel bearing as mentioned.

It is my rear brakes. The offside is totally worn away. The disc is scored now so might aswell just get a new set of discs and pads for the rear.

I just hope I haven't done any damage to the caliper :?
