This is crazy, I just wanted to fit a new head unit and now I have encountered all sorts of problems.
Firstly I didn't have the right adaptor for my new alpine unit so had to go and buy another one. I finally connected it all up and nothing, no power. I'd tried all I could think of and to no avail so then went to a car audio specialist. He said it looked like the fuse had gone because when I tried the original unit back in there was no power. When I got home I couldn't be bothered to do it straight away and went to lock the car but then no central locking. I have since checked the cd/radio fuse and also the central locking fuse under the bonnet. Both are absolutlely fine, as are the higer rating main fuses. This is turning into major effort.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Yeah checked that, the cd/radio fuse is in the car and the central locking is under the bonnet.

did you plug your hazard lights back in? try disconnecting the battery for a minute and see if that helps. are you able to use a test meter?

Thats a good place to start cuz.

I had a similer issue the first time i did this, all I did was remove everthing and start again checking everything twice and what do you know it worked!

If not I'll be at my folks next weekend, if its not done by then pop over I'm sure they'd love to see you.

Good luck.

Yup hazards and cigarette plugged in, test meter yes, tried all the fuses that way and all seem ok. Haven't tried removing the battery yet

Just found it was the fuse labelled 'back up'..... So central locking problem solved.

Retried the headunit again just in case somehow it would work this time and the fuse burnt again like before (I have loads of replacements so not too bothered)
So now still stuck with the head unit being a pain.

good to hear you solved it. if i remember correctly kenwood and alpine stereos were wired different to normal stereos and some wire swapping was needed. this was a whilst back though.

good luck with it mate let us know how you get on.
