Jimbothemagnificent's Zenki

Just read this thread from start to finish. Nice car / project / read. Takes me back to the 5 MR2 turbos I owned (not all all the same time!) but that 'uncovering messy wiring' from years of stereo bodges, gauges etc. Car looks 100% better than when you first got it. I also love the 2nd gen Trans Am in the pics. Big Smokey and the Bandit / Pontiac fan! :D Keep it up.

Thanks man!
Those photos were actually from The Bandit Run, a charity run my mate organises every year. 5 ski resorts in one day! Moustaches and Coors light in the trunk are mandatory. It's a heck of a day out.
There was another Trans Am there too, full bandit spec, don't seem to have any photos though.

Dang dude, that's pretty much my dream car right there! I'm so in love with Rocket Bunny S14s, good choice of colour too.

I wish I was in a position to go nuts with this car, but I have to be realistic. The plan has always been to restore and sell it for a house deposit. So I'm aiming for a classic sports car theme; clean, tidy and fun.
Mine doesn't have any rust, and it's never been cut or welded. I feel that the value in this car was always the body. I've been aiming to make it a really good driver, with those coilovers and all that interior work. I think it will be one of the nicest S14s around for roadtrips and spending time in, but still be an idiot machine underneath it all.

The future plan is to put a Haltech ecu in, probaly an Elite 1000.
This car has always run rich. I've still not got to the bottom of it, though I have made progress.
The MAF wires were broken, they're fixed and tested.
The FPR wasn't perfect, that's fixed and tested.
I replaced the injector seals.
Coolant temp sensor replaced.
02 sensor replaced.

But it's still fouling plugs, and the idle gets a bit stumbly when it's up to temp.
The ECU does say remanufactured on it, and I didn't think to check the part numbers on the injectors while they were out (though the new oem seals fitted perfectly).
It's also running an old and worn bov, it leaks a little, but that's the only leak.

So this winter I'm planning to get a new front mount intercooler and all the piping. Then a Haltech, which will transform this car.
One of the things I've really struggled with is communicating with that stupid Nissan Protocol ecu. There is software available, but I can't make it work on modern computers.
I really think the fueling problems are from a bad or modified ecu, or an inappropriate map. A haltech will fix all the problems I'm having, or help me diagnose them properly.

Hi again - a slightly better shot of the engine bay. Cheers for the comments, she's a right beastie okay. Looking at the problems you have I would suggest the Haltech would be the way to go. Sad you have to sell for a house deposit but that is the way it goes sometimes. My car started as a 1994 with 122000km on the dial, no rust either and perfect donor. Was imported into NZ in early 2015. Engine is 102000km. All up the car as she is now has just rolled over 135000km; so still relatively 'young'. Great for a 27 year old vehicle though. Aside from this and the Honda FK2 I have a 1995 Subaru Impreza STi Type RA Version which is staying non-molested; hence why I bought something that was modified !!.
