K20 FTW.. Essentially, more JDM than a Tsunami

K20 FTW.. Now with contents page (pg1). Because I'm cool.

Ah no way. Sorry to see this mate!

Cheers Chris.

In regards to swapping parts over to a JDM variant I'd be hard pressed as I don't like the look of pre-face EP3's. Would be a tad drastic to import in a facelift version don't you think?

You have a LSD anyway don't you? I still vote dc5, with the monstrous exhaust.

Had you got to where you wanted to be with the current car??

Yeah at the moment I have a LSD and final drive, plus much more power than a standard JDM EP3, so it would be a downgrade in a sense. Once I got all the parts swapped over it'd just be the same car, but CW white.

In regards to a DC5, again, I much prefer the facelift versions; and there aren't that many of them knocking around as far as I am aware. I guess if I moved onwards and upwards I'd make a fair amount of money back on parts I couldn't transfer over (but then would spend much more getting the Integra variants! Ha).

Had I got where I wanted with this car? No, not really. But then I have an emotional issue where I'm never happy. !! There's always something nicer/ better/ etc. I would quite happily take this car further by stroking it to 2.4, blueprinting and forging the internals, and fitting ITB's to see over 350bhp N/A but that's big bucks. But I'd be happy spending it.

Karl, I presume you have cover for your mods, in the way of like for like replacement. Would this only factor in if you claim of your policy? What obligation does the third party's insurance company have to replace your aftermarket products?

If you don't mind me asking how much was the exhaust of deathness?

oh **** son!

Gutted!!!

If you have declared all mods it will be like for like even if they have to ebay a part from around the world. Thing is my sister modded her 206 and didnt declare anything. Someone crashed into her and admited it. Tesco refused to repair it untill she either gave dated reciepts, if none, they charged her 4 years for not declaring. Cost her over a grand haha. So it could be worse.

Mate.. thats grimey.

Sorry to see this. Could be just the excuse to have it repaired and have any other defects taken out... I wouldnt be too ****ed.. annoyed.. but not mad ****ed..

If the mods are covered.. i.e adequately compensated for them.. and you're still loving this car, I'd get the whole thing rid of defects and as much resprayed as poss.

Re sale on these are pointless anyway (not that I think you've ever thought about parting).. cars well document on the web.. if you do have to sell but its not like these are fetching what they used to.. I got more for my stolen recovered standard prem.. than clean titled prems are getting these days.. so that really isn't something to worry about like it would have been before.. more so when the value of the parts on the car will ensure healthy returns..

Still nasty.. but still a few positives to be had too..

Assuming tesco were her insurance company?

The third parties insurance company should pay for parts, I'm sure Karl has a hideously large folder filled with every invoice so that shouldn't be a problem.

Just threaten to take them to the ombudsman if they get arsey with the cost.

Yup she was with Tesco. The third party will pay for the lot if all mods are declared. They even charged her for retro fitted fog lights lol! His insurance could look at the modded car to complicate it but if declared I wouldnt worry much. If they wanted they could even void it if you have not told them you have changed the tyres and the size is slightly different. If not declared your just going to have to pay for the time it wasnt or from the point of a receipt. Did you take any witness data incase he denies it? Also the police, they will inspect both cars if he did deny it.

Knowing Nymph the lot will be declared, he isn't an arse clown

Carl how did you say you fitted your mugen pedals without drilling? I remember talking to you at JAE about it

Well I am not sure whether they do have any obligation, but I am hoping that they do. Especially seeing as Scott reckons they should. Everything is declared (I sent my insurance company my spec list when I took out the policy), and as Scott correctly points out, I have a fastidious collection of paperwork and receipts.

Erm, no I don't mind. I paid less than it's going to cost to get replaced as the Yen was stronger 2 years ago when I placed the order. But to give perspective, the quote I have obtained from Sumo Power (baring in mind that this is just from the de-cat back, and I also have the 4-2 manifold and 2-1 downpipe) is £2,597.75...

Carl how did you say you fitted your mugen pedals without drilling? I remember talking to you at JAE about it

The clutch and brake pedals are easy as you just unscrew, clip, and re-tighten the pedals over your existing. With the accelerator, I just got thin (2mm) double sided sponge tape and cut it into thin strips (between the holes so you can't see it) and stuck it to the plastic of the OEM pedal. HTH.

£2500!!! Lucky im sat down!

Also figured out the brake and clutch. Not convinced by the brake though. Kinda rocks on the pedal. We're see how long it lasts.
