Geoff.

Loxy edit: Added to title.

It looks 99.9% the same as the old FK/FN series.

Methinks this might be a 2nd facelift to prolong the Mk rather than a whole new model. New front and rear bumpers, grill and other little bits of tittle tattle to meet Euro safety babble, but I bet it'll be the same car underneath...

Wouldn't be the first time that AutoExpress was completely off the mark.

edit: Added pics to my photobucket so I may as well post them up.

Someone over on Civinfo thinks it might be a test mule for the 2.2 i-DTEC engine, so slightly longer bonnet and intercooler on the front. I think it's been mentioned on here that the current 2.2 diesel production is stopping as it doesn't meet the new Euro regulations.

Allegedly the writing in German says, "Brake testing".

Added pics to my above post by the way.

Agree with what said above it is either that it is a new platform dressed in the old body (if they were just at the handling stage of a new platform it would make sense not to show the new car whole) or as said it is a test mule for a new engine or component.

Some newer spy photos.

Obviously very fake body panels all round, fake front end especially over the lights as you can see part of the shape underneath. Doors are virtually obese the amount they stick out and then back in around the hinges. The flat bit at the back is obviously fake too hiding the real shape of the rear.

Rear door handles look the same as the current 5 door, it looks a bit longer and roof line at the back seems much flatter onto the rear window. Really big brake discs too by the look of it, unless they are just small alloys. Oh... and it's got a rear wiper!! :smt023

Old news too (22nd July):
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/254821/next_honda_civic_pictures.html

AutoExpress said:
It will get a new diesel engine with a displacement smaller than the current 2.2-litres, and the firm’s entirely new petrol engine. Also debuting will be an efficient transmission range which is likely to include Honda’s twin-clutch gearbox which has so far only been used on its motorbike range.

Really looking forward to seeing the design of the new Civic - whilst the back of the 8th gen divides opinion, it's generally a striking design, and quite unlike anything else offered from the other, affordable, hatch marques; will be interesting to see where Honda try and take it with the 9th gen, simplify it? Or try to go bolder yet?

do you really think so? I always thought the 8th Gen ukdm civic looks like a pug 206

Looks like the original rendered drawings may be half way accurate, the proportions, lights under the maskings and wipers etc:
