FN2 Thinking of getting a FN2 type r

That looks lovely. Did it give you any troubles? Plan is to go and view one in Birmingham on Saturday. Unfortunately it has grey leather interior and no conveniences whatsoever, no heated seats, harmon kardon, satnav etc, however, other than that, sounds really good.

Thanks!

Yes, it had a couple of issues; partly the reason I got rid was being worried of the repairs draining me of funds! They truly are a great car but they're not short of issues.

I wasn't bothered about heated seats when looking but was glad of them when getting in on cold days. Mine had a sunroof which I had open at every dry opportunity as well as the rear elec windows, so seats were a great addition.

Have you read about the rear axle carrier panel cracking (often referred to as subframe)?
They all crack or will be cracked and don't let anybody tell you any different! Unless it's been replaced by BMW or professionally reinforced, walk away.

If I were to buy another I'd be speaking to East Kent Performance (ECP). Give them a ring and they'll source a car for you, their website isn't the best though.

HTH

Yep, the one I am looking at has had a new clutch, new brakes and discs, vanos rebuild, diff seals replaced and the subframe plated.

Hey guys,

So just an update, and I will probably be on this site a lot less now, but just want to thank you all again for helping me solve some of the quirks I encountered during my brief FN2 ownership. It was a brilliant car and probably just came in the wrong order, as I had a 645ci before it and just missed the grunt too much. Having said that, here is my new lady:

Thanks fella, loving it at the moment. Has a few niggles that I will be sorting over the next couple of months, first thing is the boot not opening via the boot button which is driving me nuts

So, invested lots in to it and no end in sight. Just ordered an intake kit lol but should sound epic.

Thoughts. It's great. Its almost everything I wanted and dreamed it would be.

Negatives:
Everyone wants to race
Creaks
Wind noise
Parts cost
Gear changes

However, for me, it really was the next logical step to the Type R. Its, similar, only on steroids haha. Although I often think about other cars, for the price, nothing else comes close. More than capable of transporting me and the family, large enough boot and awesome on full chat. Last post from me lads as its too difficult keeping all the forums I'm part of up to date. See you around.

What a thread revival. I am back in a Type R :D

Well, not quite. Paid the deposit just waiting a date for collection as a private plate needs to come off the car etc. Will start a new thread as this isn't an FN2...
