As you may have read in my FD2 thread I have opted to move over to the turbo vtec world. After test drive number 3 i decided to make my moves. In just over a week I had my fd sold and all the bits came off and sold on. I more or less found myself inside this fk2 with what I sold the mods and car for - no brainer for me when I think about it logically - having warranty for another 2 years is something nice to fall back on.
The car is a December 2015 fk2 , covered 6300 miles , had its first service in January this year along with two new continental tyres fitted at the front , although they didn't need changing , I gather the owner who loved and cherished the car wanted to fit some new ones to keep the car the best it can be.
I did a deal and collected.
A pic of my fd2 in the showroom where it is to be sold and looking lovely.
After being in the newbie for 250 odd miles on the way back from collecting, I had quickly determined that these are excellent cars. The seats are amazing , it even returns good mpg ! Currently on 270ish with 80 odd left in the range.
When I drove my fd2 up the way it was standard , and although not too bad in relation to motorway noise , it still was quite bumpy , although this isn't a massive issue for what an fd2 returns when you are "having it large" on a b-road.
That being said , it was nice to have cruise control - although I hold my hands up and have said I've never seen the appeal .. I guess you can only experience it to appreciate it .. dab radio , steering wheel controls, all make for a pleasant driving experience. Many other bells and whistles to boot , which I am still learning about.
Washed this morning.
An fd2 owner came along and collected one of the few remaining parts I have left over.
Bought a mugen gear knob from simon at hendy.
Overall I am very happy with my decision. N/A K20 Honda cars are phenomenal but the way the fk picks up speed once the turbo comes on song ... and the way it handles is something to behold. Lazy 6th gear overtakes are simple and relaxing on motorways.
That's it really.
I am quite interested in some of the Honda carbon parts for these cars ... so maybe some other bits may come along soon.
As for mapping , exhausts .. nope ! Edit : exhaust , why not !
Although I will change the panel filter element to a k&n which is a cheap but effective mod that doesn't affect any warranty.
Cheers.
