Unsure about my ECU

Hi TRO,

Had the beauty for almost a year now and not sure about what the ECU is and how it's been mapped? The previous owner didn't know either. I'm not convinced it's been mapped properly because off the line, it's such a drag to get going. Then again, that may be inherent with the CAI kits as the air has to travel a longer distance to the engine, resulting in 'not so exciting' lower rpm's.

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated as I'm not really sure which route to take next.

Salutations,

Yoshi

I have no issues getting off the line using an AEM CAI.

You cant check your map unless you know what you're doing and you have kpro AFAIK. Best way to tell if you have been mapped, remove your ECU and open it up - if you have a 2nd circuit board with 'hondata' printed on it - then you have been mapped - only real way of telling if it's mapped propperly is going to a RR. You can check your spark plugs to see if you are running overly rich or lean though.

It's a 20 minute job to remove the ECU if you havn't done it before - 5-10 mins if you know where everything is. Couldn't be any easier.

Ill go to a RR and check then - ECU. Must mean it's not mapped right because coming off the line is a real pain
