Window Tinting in the UK

From what research I've done, it seems you have to have your front windows at a minimum of 30% VLT - at least 30% of visible light is able to pass through.

Wondered what you guys know on this issue, and if any of you have tried tinting windows yourself?

The fronts have to let 70% of light through and they do that straight from factory so you can't tint them.

Have the regs changed of late then? My EP3 had tints on the front, but they were tinted to the legal limit as the shop wouldnt do them so they were illegal. There was a slight difference between the OEM Prem rear sides and the tints that were fitted to the front sides. The rear being darker.

Also he said that you were allowed to dark as you like on the rear sides and the rear window.

This may have changed since 2007 though.

And the rears you can go crazy on, if you like?

Yes as black as you like.

mine have been tinted slightly on the front they are still legal but you cant really they ave been tinted till the night time or if you look at them on the angle. Also the darker you get your rears done it makes the fronts look darker. If you polish your windows its really hard too see through them and its legal

As far as i know its 75% of light able to pass through for the windscreen, 70% for the front driver and passanger windows and there is no limit for the rear sides and back

As said the law is 75% light through on the windscreen, 70% on the front side windows and no set limit on the rear sides and rear screen. The EP3 is tinted to 25% on ALL windows so you can get away with 5% extra on the fronts if you can find somewhere that does it.

Is that all 3 for 90 quid or per window? :tumble:

Its just that someone has quoted me £400 pound for them :sheep:

also is it ok to give me the number

£400. that's ridiculous. £90 all in for the rears. i think it was £150 to do all windows. £30 each window.
