EP3 2004 Excessive Oil consumption, blue smoke in VTEC

Hi I've had my EP3 for about 3 months now and the car has been great apart from needing new tyres and brakes and a alternator change. Ive noticed the car over the past week will run a bit sluggish when weather is hot the low end and mid range feel weak after the car comes up to operating temp, but driving in the night the car feels very responsive and a good lot quicker. It has a AEM V2 induction kit, dc sports midpipe, DC5 exhaust manifold. Recently the car has been going through oil like no tomorrow after 1000 miles I can expect 2-3 litres of oil to be gone I have tryed 5w30 and 5w40 fully synthetic with same effect. I can see a little bit of oil appearing at the rocker cover every time I open the bonnet but I'm not sure if this is related to the rocker gasket or the piston rings. I have been quoted £600 for piston ring, rehoning and gaskets and head studs. I haven't had it compression tested or leak down tested yet but I feel like I've bought a money pit I don't know what to do either break it or repair it or replace the engine. It is a cosmic grey 2004 EP3 with 118000 on the clock. Furthermore any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.

V2 will be causing heat soak in the warmer weather. First off get s compression and leak down test done. It may be the valve stem oil seals. Also £600 for piston rings seems cheap?

I'll have to do that first then and I thought the price was average but then again it's a long term friend who specialises in type R engine rebuilds and timing chain replacements so it might be cheap I don't know the prices for piston ring change with gaskets and other stuff.
