If it’s anything like the FK2 then you can get an A warning if the viscosity of the oil has degraded so it could be indicative of something else rather than an overdue service, like wise it could be just the car throwing a tantrum, the manual should clear it up or one if the other owners may have had a similar experience and may be able to shed some light

My FK8 is 11 months old with only 2k miles, so the other day I checked the service menu in the car and it indicated over 3k miles until the A service. Having checked the manual and service book, it suggests that if the car is on variable servicing it will indicate the approximate amount of time until the next service (like Matt's), but if it isn't the oil condition sensor will indicate the amount of miles until the oil needs changing (like mine). Coincidentally my local dealer rang later that day to tell me my car was due a service within the next month as the 1 year or 12k miles threshold had been reached.

I'm confused - is the FK8 on variable servicing or a fixed schedule. or have some cars been configured differently at PDI than others?

I can’t speak for the 8 as I own a 2 but I was under the impression the variable servicing was an “optional” thing so to speak it’s never a necessity it’s just if you want to be very precious over the car, for lack of a better description, that’s just the impression I had got from all the references to it I had seen

It all depends which comes first, if it's been a year go with that one.
Variable servicing on the R from Honda has been an issue since 2015, dealers not knowing what's what, HUK insisting they should be active, dealers not activating them at PDI, and from what I gather if it wasn't activated at PDI then it's pointless doing it as it's something that needs doing from the get go to work.

It was only this year that a few of us FK2 owners found out the difference between an activated and non activated service display, few of us were told by dealers it's activated but turns out it clearly wasn't.

Non activated display at the top, activated at the bottom

Took my FK8 to the dealer today to get a replacement (ready painted) offside rear wheel arch extension fitted, courtesy of some unknown **** who scraped it whilst parked. Replacement plus labour was £186, which is probably a fair bit cheaper than repairing and painting a standard wheel arch. DIY replacement would have been £125 if supplied by Cox with forum discount.

New wheels and tyres, ready for winter pothole madness. Bought from Wheelbase in Chadderton, great service can't recommend them enough.
Team Dynamics 1.3, 18" /8.5/ET45, 64.1 centre same as Honda
Michelin PS4XL 245/40ZR18
Ride is smoother as you would expect with a 40 side wall but I still felt comfortable having a play with a M140i on the way home:) no black lugs instock so I have ordered a black Monster lug kit from Tegiwa imports
Also ordered Rally armour mudflaps so will post pictures when I have them fitted.

Nice!! With the wider tyre wall, the 18's don't look lost like I thought they would.

How much all in if you don't mind me asking

Yeah I agree about the 18’s not being lost, a lot of the Americans are dropping to 18’s so I had a good idea how they would look.
My main worry was moving away from the 60 offset but after some spirited driving A road and motorway I am very happy with my decision.
All in was just under £1600, I would’ve been replacing my contisport tyres soon and that would have cost me a grand so I consider this an investment, I have 4 years PCP car will have great condition oem wheels when I give it back and I will be paying much less for new tyres and I think I will get twice as much mileage from the PS4’s

This weekend was Roxy's birthday so she got a good ragging and pampering today. 9.9k miles and plenty of smiles later...

First the ragging which nearly ended in disaster as I had massive understeer into oversteer moment round a very well known roundabout which I and more like the traction and stability control saved but scared the sh1t out of me...the car is very capable but still need to respect the laws of physics.

Then tried this autofinesse aqua coat which basically is a spray you apply just after you have rinsed off the contact wash and it acts as a hydro-wad-ya-call it barrier like a wax and have to say was very impressed.

Wheels continue to stress me out as ironx, poor boys purple haze, collinite wax to seal, then the aqua coat. Went back out few hours later to literally the shops 2 mins away and of course the rust off the discs has stuck and all the rest of it. No wheel sealant works for me, they don't repel brake dust and they do not make it easier to wash off end of.

Yea yea should have ceramic coated them....

Drive forward & backwards on your drive a few times & apply the brakes to clear away the surface rust just after washing ;)

Then give the wheels a final wipe down :smt023

Not just a pretty face me

Regards,Mark.

Use Mr Sheen furniture polish on your wheels helps with brake dust and they come up a treat was told this tip by an alloy wheel specialist. I've done this since the car was new and they still look mint

ha never heard of furniture polish..! It reminded me of a detailer telling me to use WD40 as a finisher and barrier back in the day... kinda makes sense as well.

Anyone elses silver parts of the rear calliper getting pretty corroded and smeggy? Weird Honda part painted.....cost I guess.

My alloys are ceramic coated and I'm still getting embedded brake dust, they're looking shocking at the moment due to 2 months with no wash,
My calipers are totally ruined as well, the lacquer has well and truly gone from the fronts, not happy about that one and I'm not the only one suffering with that issue

Had a bit of an off day last Thursday. Went to Dundee and hit a really low barrier in a supermarket car park that was below my line of sight.

Looks like a new front bumper, skirt and the radiator mounting on the left side has been completely crushed too. Wife not happy!

Bodyshop can't do the work until 4th October. Had to go through insurance but we have protected NCD so hopefully not too painful apart from the excess. What a ****.

Did you ceramic coat your callipers Dweezle out of interest? I am petrified of my callipers degrading.....its my favourite feature!! No warranty claims on them I guess....

wowsers, that was a low barrier?? Why would a supermarket have those? Must have been a horrific sound. You will get the pain next renewal for sure, no matter about NCD protection etc...
