My Type-R #4 - Champ White FD2

I sold my FN2 in January after finding myself constantly looking at the classifieds.
Two FD2s that I fancied before Christmas had sold, I considered a facelift DC5 but that also sold quickly. I viewed a modified FD2 at a dealer but found it had too many faults, despite having a lot of money spent on it recently, so I walked away.
Then I saw this one advertised and I picked it up last week :)

Looking really smart. Your engine bay looks really clean too

It’s in really good condition but has a couple of niggles which I plan to sort out.
It has Js racing cat-back exhaust (unsure on model) which is too loud for my liking, so that’ll be changed back to OEM. The previous owner was already in the process of swapping these but the OEM system hasn’t turned up; hopefully it’ll make an appearance and I’ll make arrangements to swap back.

The floormats are missing, if anybody has some to sell please shout ;)

The suspension is *hard*!! Considering I’m coming from an FN2 I thought nothing of it but it’s surprised me!. Koni rear dampers are on order.

The Japanese double din is still fitted, this will be changed for an Apple car play in time.

I had a j’s racing for about a week. Soooo boomy! Just couldn’t take it. So off it came again back to oem. I’m tempted by a rma01 though

I had the Kakimoto Regu.06&R on mine, fantastic sounding system.

Sadly they don’t make great power.

FD2s? Not wrong there bud.

In all seriousness when you get into the differences of a couple of BHP here and a couple there, for the price of modding NA, every little counts.

I had a Kaki Regular 06&R on my dc5 and loved the sound it made, really unique! Any photos of it on your old FD2 Loxy?

Love this car!

Ive been tinkering with a few bits. I kept my old fn2 steering wheel as it had been retrimmed and thought I’d fit it to the fd2. I took it all apart to find they’re different, would you believe it?! I’ll stick to the original for now..

Koni rear dampers are now fitted making the ride less ‘fidgety’ at the rear. Also, new wheel nuts to replace the rusty ones and some eBay special centre caps which I’ve painted to ‘match’ (they aren’t perfect):

A standard exhaust is also now fitted, making the rare motorway journey more appealing as I won’t get tinnitus symptoms afterwards :)
The oem exhaust is quite a looker anyway I thought:

The car had a tv tuner, nav antenna and lots of wiring all of which was unnecessary, so it had to go:

I got a little carried away, during:

A couple of boring bits - a new gear gaitor and some floormats, meant for the U.K. hybrid car but do the job, originals are discontinued sadly

New headlights next, maybe Mugen front lip too..

Nice. How long did it take to remove the dash?

A couple of hours I guess. Removing the passenger airbag gave me some difficulty as I didn’t realise there’s 3 nuts holding the underside.
Refitting was pretty quick and easy.
Do you need to remove yours?

I need to remove part of it so I can rip out some pointless wiring and also put in my new alarm siren.

I used those plastic trim removing tools (they're in the photo in front of the gearstick). They were only a few quid on amazon I think, well worth it.

On a side note Chris, I have a Cusco front upper strut brace sat in the garage, would you be interested?
