My FN2 service

Messages
51
Afternoon guys,

So I've recently bought a FN2 Milano red type r, and it's in need of a service.
The car has just ticked 55k and the last Service was carried out at 37k. It's got a full Honda service history too.

What type of service do I need next? Is it a full or just an interim service.

Now spanner in the works, is that the 37k service was carried out in 2012. So not much mileage done in the past 6years or even in the cars life.

Advice appreciated

Sounds like the 37.5k service was done last, though it's now well overdue based on time elapsed and yes it'll be the full service.
If I were you I'd get the 50k one done which includes the plugs & valve clearances, and due to the 6 year gap I'd get the brake fluid replaced as well.

If the plugs are iridium, which they probably are, they only need changing at 75k.
Definitely the brake fluid, possibly get clutch fluid done too, also air and pollen filters.
There could be some debate on the valves - mine's a 2011 reg and my local Honda dealer says valves are 62.5k since there was an update to the schedules on later models.
If you have a main dealer nearby ask their advice, you don't have to get the work done there.

I had transmission fluid changed last year as well since that's meant to be every 6 years (mine's on a 61 plate)

Ok thanks guys, roughly what would I be looking at paying for this?

And the full service is what you all recommend.

Thanks for the links Wilmo, could I not just buy the full service kit from cox motor sport Honda. See link below

And take all that down to my dealer that way? Would that work out cheaper??

Thanks

Why not see if they will match the price, mine did on the space saver wheel?
However, if you buy it somewhere else and then expect them to do the work I would expect them to be less than happy.

I would not trust Honda to come anywhere near my car lol. Buy the parts from Cox and take it to a Honda specialist, one that can actually tell the difference from a Jazz and a Type R :)

Tbh, I have never taken any of my Hondas anywhere else other than my nearest Honda dealer.
Found them utterly reliable and trustworthy in 13 years and when I've asked they've always helped me on price if I thought it was initially expensive.

Sounds like you have a very different Honda dealer than me nearby. Even when I've ordered parts they've been a total nightmare, confusing the model for a pre-facelift, or suggesting things that were not for the car....

Ah yeah sorry that does sound poor.

Your miles away from my dealer.
Have you tried TGM at Fleet ?

Highly regarded independent

Thanks guys, it's only as the car has only ever been to Honda main dealer, and has been stamped fully that I want to keep it that way. As much as I'd love to take it to independent garages to save £££, peace of mind and again the cars history of only been serviced with Honda is swaying me that way.

The Cannock Honda dealer does mine. For the last 2-3 years they've even collected it from my house in Tamworth and had it back to me around 3-4PM which I've always been impressed with given the distance.

I've gone a bit soft this year though and said I'll take it down myself and have a courtesy car for the day to save their lads the hassle of getting back to me through the nightmare that is the traffic on the A5. Looking forward to seeing what I get given lol. Hopefully not a Jazz!

Leagues better than the shoddy service I had at Ford when I used to have a Mondeo ST. Queues just to hand the keys in, nowhere to park and I never got my car back until the very last minute when they were closing. Then I'd receive 3 text messages in a row telling me that my car "is ready to collect"...after I'd already picked it up
