FK8 CTR 2019 talk

Thanks for the info. Makes sense a power decrease. Not to mention the toll on turbo/engine long time reliability.
I checked Honda Uk website and the brochure seem to be still the old ones(edited in 2017). Do we find somewhere the brochures for 2019 European model?

From the link below I understand that Euro CTR from 05/2018 have GPF(gas particulate filter)? Any owner can confirm?

From 09/2018 WLTP regulations in the EU limit the amount of particulate emissions, so it effectively mandated the use of GPF on all direct injection petrol engines. I don't know when Honda made the change, but 05/2018 would seem reasonable to ensure compliance.

Euro 6d Temp still allows for an additional 110% extra margin on Nox emissions, until September 2019:
"Euro 6c (WLTP, i.e. lab conditions), which took effect on September 1st 2017 for new type approvals and is mandatory for all new cars from September 2018 onwards, means that NOx is limited to 60 and 80 mg/km for petrol and diesel, respectively. Euro 6d-TEMP (RDE, i.e. real driving conditions), which also took effect for new type approvals on September 1st 2017 but gives existing models time until September 2019, allows a deviation (a.k.a conformity factor) of 110 percent."

Anybody with second half 2018 models here?

I took delivery late December, is there something you would like me to check?

Thanks a lot for the help!

- first what emission class / manufacturing date are written in your vehicle registration document / certificate of conformity?
- still 320hp in the documents?
- is the engine still sounding right?
- do you have the face-lift model (with new volume button added to infotainment screen)?
- kind offtopic (sorry) what are the legal tyre sizes mentioned in the car's tag on B-pillar?

Here are a couple of pics of the info you wanted, I can't comment on the engine sounding right as it was 12 months ago since I drove an earlier build car and no I do not have a volume button as such, only the electronic slider, I will take a pic if you want one. I know the car was built in November 2018 and it is was released from production on the 14th to the dealer network.

Thank you for the info.
- it's ok if the volume knob(https://www.autoblog.com/photos/2019-honda-civic-type-r/#slide-7459929) is not there maybe it is not the face lift. Pff I'm really confused on Civicx they said 2019 model started to be built from beginning of November 2018.
- I googled and saw FK802 reference being mentioned few times for late 2018 FK8 CTRs. Hard to say the emission class though.
- amazed that among legal size tyres there's no size corresponding to the OEM 18" 225 40 R18 x 8J ET55 used for winter tyres (https://www.honda-welman.nl/webshop...act-winterbandenset-lichtmetaal-18-inch-horus). Here in Luxemburg the technical control allows only specified tyre sizes. For example somewhere in Germany they homologated them along with winter tyres: https://deapps.honda.de/inhalt/serv...fc_fk6_fk7_civic-5-tuerer_civic-limousine.pdf

I would of thought we won't see facelifts till march+ possible September release

https://www.civicx.com/threads/estimated-delivery-date.31837/
and according to this production of MY2019 started on 18th of October 2018.

Pfff then they produce facelift for US and old version for Europe?! What a mess...

I'd like to buy one but due to this Honda mess, it's hard to reach a decision. Calling dealers from Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg did not help either. They don't even know that a facelift is due to arrive. They have cars due to arrive in Feb, March but no clue what kind. Really professional.

If you look at a US site, you will get North American answers. I can't speak for EU cars sold outside of the UK, but in the UK they are still advertised with unchanged power and torque values.

I do know that BMW have added a GPF from 07/18 builds to their M(1/2)40i cars, but power and torque remain the same. Presumably there has been some subtle ECU remapping to achieve this, and would assume Honda have done the same as there is plenty of scope to change parameters.

it's not a mess as such, US got the car in June 17, UK in September 17 (factory being in UK don't forget!) so they are following this logic

Facelift is a strong word as well - yes the volume button is nice to have, but everyone uses the wheel volume controls anyway and I think the screen is smaller now with those physical buttons. Get one now!!

We then go back to why did Honda put a camouflaged car back on the ring

I have two theories:

1) In an effort to boost European sales they did indeed build the test mules with less offensive fake grilles and a smaller spoiler but then the business case was not approved as the main man in Japan said something along the lines if they don't like my wings they can F*&k off and get a Golf R
2) Or...These changes will be with us in Sept - the volume knob etc are tiny upgrades for now...

My money is on 2

There is a facelift coming, we all know this. Not much change body wise, most changes are ECU related, reasons why have been discussed here.

The toned down version that was at the 'Ring is US market.

I must have missed the ECU chat - what's the story then?

Someone here must know a Honda insider for some more solid info :graham2:

Coming from a Boxster S which has appreciated about £1k per year since I bought it, the depreciation on a new FK8 is tough to swallow. That'd only be made worse by a facelift, so I'm carefully considering whether or not to hold on for a few months!
