EP3 JDM as investment

Hi all,

Just thought I’d post on here my plan to see what you think,

I’m looking for a EP3 JDM as an investment hoping to make a bit of money over the next 5/10 years,
I want an EP3 as I’ve had them before and I like to do the odd track day, I’d change springs brakes etc and save them for wish I come to sell it, I’m not worried about making a lot of money but I think it’s better than leaving it in the bank.

Do you think these will go up? I’ve been offered a nice clean one with 59k on the clock

I don’t think they will rise in value at all. They may stay at what they are though so you wouldn’t lose any money.

I think EP3 values will rise for stock clean low mileage ones. Look at EK4 VTI's! Hard to get a clean one for less than £4000 now and a few years ago they were half the price if that. I think it'll probably take a little time though. Look at late 80's and early 90's hot hatches - they're worth a fortune now. And the EP3 is no less special than those older FWD hot hatches.

Can’t imagine they will rocket in value, but would suggest your dollar is pretty safe as don’t see them falling anymore. DC2 / EK9 seem to have had marginal rises over the last few years so ep3s ‘may’ follow

The issue with the EP3 is that they sold in absolute droves compared to the EK9 and DC2 for example.

I have imported and sold many cars over the years many of which if I had kept I would have made a small fortune. Sold my TME RS in 2009 to Poland for pennies of its value today and my immaculate series McRae not to mention S202 M20b Impreza spec c ‘s R205 Type R s Evo rS the list goes on and on.
I have just totally restored my 30th anniversary as it’s a low production run car and those always make money no matter what and I love an Ep3 had more fun in one on track than any other car. I could have a JDM but there are tons of them still so I saved the 30th too many broken for parts and rusted away.
I disagree with Ep3 s not being worth anything.
Golf gti R5 turbo 205 the list goes on these cars We’re huge production runs they never had a huge computer generation impact like the Red badge B series & K cars and look where they are now.
Mk2 escorts the Hondas will surpass all of these mark my words the Hondas were a breakthrough in the game last hurrah for the NA engineers nothing will scream like them again and the engines and boxes are insanely well engineered show me a smother 6 speed manual I have yet to find one !
I’m 40 plenty of racing experience I can have pretty much any car I want and I choose to have a Honda for a reason as a toy and fun car. Modern fast cars that drive themselves are good if your an average driver it can make you look and feel good it’s designed to do it, if you want an engaging driving experience put me in a well sorted civic on track over anything apart from a spec c and it will keep going and going and the driver will be smiling that’s what the future holds you can’t buy that anymore.
90s/2000s cars will surpass anything before it end of an era for engineering brilliance.
If you are serious about a JDM EP pm me I import cars now and then still for pals and a few people and I don’t charge what the other lot do I’m well known for importing Subaru’s some of the rarest seen in the Uk inc S1 legacy’s RS type R another car I wish I had kept 2 of those both immaculate low miles both with collectors now. imported for years here and Canada but my day job made more money so that’s the route I took rather than trying to sell the cleanest cars and competing with the junk sold by others not all but many out there.
I’ve seen prices skyrocket in JP the trend follows here USA will be importing the JDM Ep3 in the coming years then the prices will skyrocket the yanks love a Civic look what they have done to the skyline market I used to pay £6k for a BNR32 and what happened with the P1 it’s a watered down type R Impreza with no dccd and a softer more manageable chassis body styling wheels and a remap now £30k for a minter purists know the Type R it was based on is x10 the car lots of 90s-2000s collectors collecting worldwide mark my words sky’s the limit for this era of engineering.
I know guys with serious cars and wealth who still love a good honda and grin from ear to ear in one that’s the future value drivers cars not computer driven.
If anyone wants a UK immaculate grey 2 owner E46 M3 with 65k manual pre fl all paperwork inc first inspection no boot floo issues or rust anywhere mint under chassis, all M3 niggles inc expensive interior mirror done with new Contis all round shout me :)
