20k miles on a clutch reasonable?

I know it’s subjective as people will argue it’s how the car is driven but hear me out.

My clutch is not slipping but it is however displaying signs that the pressure plate is on its way out. Stiff/heavy pedal and having to touch it to the floor for a notchless shift (and I still need to double clutch if it’s to be kept totally smooth).

I dug out some service history today which shows that it had exactly the same symptoms bang on 20k miles ago (I.e pressure plate issue) and got a new clutch.

So my question is, do I definitely want to go oem again if the last two have failed before actually wearing out?!!

Car is mapped but it’s hardly a huge increase in power at 214bhp

I had an ACT stage 2 go on me after 14k so updated isn't necessarily better. It all depends on how you treat them.

ive seen a genuine Honda clutch do over 90k in a s2000 that was 400- 440bhp depending on the pulley used on the charger. Ive always used genuine clutches ever since.

20k miles sounds way too early mate. Was the car thrashed as soon as the new clutch was fitted or was it properly bedded in? It may not be the clutch but a cylinder. Sadly it'll have to be opened up to check properly. But I'm sure a specialist would figure out the issue once and for all.

It’s going in to TGM at the end of the month for new clutch and flywheel. I’ll get the clutch fluid and a braided line fitted at the same time. I’m the new owner so half expected a new clutch might be needed on a car with 66k but was surprised when I saw it had been done at 46k and it needs doing again.
I’m not hard on my cars so hopefully this next one will last!
