FN2 Creaking / rubbing noise when turning

Hi All

Been experiencing a creaking / rubbing noise when turning tightly at low speeds, both directions. It's been getting gradually more severe over time so I thought I would get my usual garage to have a look. Their first diagnosis was OS strut top mount. Unfortunately they fitted this (full assembly including bearing and a new d-link) and the noise remained. They said it was sorted so I paid (not cheap btw) for the repair before actually driving away which was perhaps the wrong move but I've used this garage before with no issues. Anyway took it back and went out with the mechanic to demonstrate the noise and he agreed it was still there. So I leave it with them again and the next diagnosis was the NS CV joint, which I was skeptical about but they assured me they were confident it was that. The garage offered to fit a new CV for just the cost of the part and no charge at all if it dint solve the problem. Just heard back from them that surprise surprise it wasn't the CV joint and the noise is still there. At the moment they have called out a gearbox specialist because they think that might be the issue. Again I'm skeptical of this so I wont be authorising them to do anything further but I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same noise and what fixed it for them ?

cheers

Might not be the case but are your brakes okay? I was suffering with all kinds of nasty sounds when turning at low speeds and it was the brakes. The caliper had just started to seize and obviously wasn't releasing fully when my foot was off the brakes.
