Plated/Coated front brake discs?

Messages

Hello

I'm about to change the front discs and pads on my EP3.

I would like to fit ones with a coating so that the centres don't go rusty within weeks!

I only use the car on the road so not after drilled or grooved.

Does anybody know if any of the options from ECP or GSF are plated/coated?

Many Thanks

Steve

Pagid are generally pretty good for the price, and I think they have a 50% sale on at the moment (so long as you remember to enter the SALE55 code in your basket). The coating still wears off after a while though.

Discs

Pads

You could go cheaper on the pads if it's just a daily driver, but given it's 50% off I'm not sure it's worth it.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I'll order a set of those then, with quality pads as no point skimping on them.

Thanks again

Steve

ECP also do Brembo OEM discs that are coated, got them for my FN2 guess there is an EP3 version.

Thread resurrection for sure!

Fitted Pagid discs and they were fine at first.

Done 4000 miles on them and they are now rusting at an alarming rate!

The rust is creeping up from the hub and they sound rough on brake application.

Are the Brembo high carbon discs any better?

The Brembos on the FN2 are looking about the same as the Pagid on the Si, so probably not.

Well that answers that question, thanks!

With only 4000 miles on them, I might check the cost of getting them skimmed?

Once you factor in new pads it could come to the same price as new though, I suspect.

Cheers

I bought the Brembo coated discs for the Clio200 and sprayed them with 2/3 coats of Hammerite satin black before fitting them.

I also bought some TRW discs for my sons Civic that were coated and they were fitted last summer and still look good.
I didn't put any additional coating on them.
I bought them from CarPartsInMotion off eBay.

(along with timing belt/aux belt/tensioners/wishbones etc)
Good company to use.
