N77’s new R

Can you not just get a full length 4D plate so the holes are covered without much fuss ?

I could but that would be too easy lol

I wanted the shorter plates as the less plate the better, didn’t count for the holes though :(

awesome car ,I think a full length plate will look better then the holes they look worse

You getting a pedalbox for this? Seems to be getting rave reviews on the R forums, I am considering one for my car as well.

So went to Anglesey at the weekend, didn’t go on the track itself but got a couple of pics around it.

Quite impressed with the camera on the iPhone 11 pro, but did use the DSLR as well

:(

After a run on the M54 at *cough cough the splitter came away from the bumper, so I had to get it off to continue the journey, after it had chipped and scraped on the road, so it’s no good :(

So this happened in the Black Friday sale :)

VAG Sport Res Delete, quick delivery too and free, although for just a bit of pipe it’s expensive for what it is, but the fitment have been spot on from what I’ve seen.

So went down to Dan at HondaHQ today to get it fitted, sent him a vid to show him and he said he could fit it for me no problem.

All sorted within 30 mins too, that was including taking the exhaust off the car to cut it, as he didn’t want to do it on the car, which is understandable.

Now it sounds like it should have and the DSG farts sound awesome

I have ODB eleven and have turned off the fake sounds too in preparation for this being fitted haha

Ordered a second Maxton lip but will have to fit it after Xmas as it’s too cold and I want to take the bumper off this time to fit it, to make sure it won’t come off again

Use bolts this time, not silly clips. The lads on the cupra forum do it this way or self tapping and not seen one post complaining of it coming off

So seeing as I can’t do much else, over the last week or so, I have been sorting a few bits on the Golf

Started by giving it a good clean as it had loads of tar spots and iron fallout, so this needed addressing first.

Then the first little few bits I needed to fit were the inlays and sill stickers I’ve had for a good couple of months.

a2bba3ea7f6fe851ffc9ffa2e5c29700.jpg

I thought it was a bit plain on the sill, so this adds a finishing touch and should help with marks on the paint too.

Next was the Black overlays for the Chrome R badges and the chrome strip on the grill.

After

Same for the small badges on the wings

Also the grill, while it was taken off for the next modification, it was easier to clean it and fit them.

So the next job was to fit my second Maxton front lip on the car, I bought another just before Christmas but was waiting for the weather and the time to fit it, properly this time so was perfect timing to get it sorted.

So off with the grill first of all...

8b2f3f8a9e64ad40f24dcac79a793bd2.jpg

Then the bumper, it was fairly straight forward, a lot of screws and bolts, then had to disconnect the washers and a couple of connectors.

1b84789bf3bcce6d18891985109aa5f1.jpg

Removed I then proceeded to put the Maxton lip into place, using pretty much the holes that were already there from the first time, but with the added few and using the nuts, bolts and washers provided with this one and the other, just to make extra sure this time

eee13132fa7bfde270d856eeb0d810d5.jpg

I did add a couple more closer up on the edge, but it does fix on with the original screws to the under trays as well, so when it’s fitted, that will secure it as well.

7ebe68c1aeecaeb40f987de41fab7dec.jpg

All fitted and bumper cleaned in the nooks and crannies while it was easier to do as well.

877e130d93b4b6d656260ed030c2f514.jpg

So while the bumper was off I also set about adding my DTUK tuning box I had before I got the car but was waiting a while and insurance renewal to fit it, so it was declared on renewal, so was an excuse to fit it as well.

Also something I have had for a while was the Pipercross replacement air filter, which was recommended on the Golf groups, but will eventually swap it for an induction kit in the future all being well.

Bumper all back on along with the grill, so have it a quick spruce up and dressing, DTUK box tucked behind the airbox and battery.

You have to plug it in down the bottom of the engine, boost sensor, so it was easier onto get at it while the bumper was off, still fiddly though as the connector just wouldn’t release, got there in the end.

Front bumper and lip now fitted, all clean apart from the exhaust tips I forgot about on this day.

Next I had to address the state of the exhaust tips, they weren’t cleaned when I got the car, and all I had done was clean it myself but not a proper clean, so I set about getting them shiny again.

97a3cfd26f8dd6d9b742d22d73d4d544.jpg

As they are so close to the rear bumper, I jacked the car up and undone the 2 bolts that hold the back box up, so that gave me a little more room.

0a2c4392cf50fac4a2e16b28f4403f94.jpg

It dropped them a little more on the passenger side than the drivers but could get to them okay to give them a good clean.

602543e36ad14d8c6a5d3cb2b2981cef.jpg

One side done then the other to do.

I used Meguairs All Metal Polish on them along with Gtrchniq tar and glue remover initially, and used a small pad on a drill to get them to that stage.

479a2e370a97bad598d152965a8d086d.jpg

Both now clean on the left...

aa278f0f7177dc21fc8067e227c30a68.jpg

Now to tackle the drivers side, the black soot has really eaten in the chrome so they are not perfect, but an exhaust may come in the future plans anyway

99a436d1ab9c75125e3af1e241f8ec94.jpg

All fitted back and looking like they should

cadf09c5bf0008788dceee4a995d0e19.jpg

Both shiny and new, well almost

So just working on a mod for the rear above that it’s crying out for now with the black bits everywhere

I also plan to clay bar it, stage 1 and then ceramic coat it while I have the time as well.

I know Chris but the estate version looks like a chest freezer on wheels IMO

They are not too bad, this is a friend of mine who needs the larger boot
