FN2 Strange noise when car is typically under load

Can anyone shed any light on a strange noise my fn2 has started doing. It's usually when accelerating at lower speeds but can also do it when coasting. Only way to describe the sound is its a tinny scraping type sound. Similar to what a damaged bearing wound sound. It's been up on a ramp and checked over by an experienced mechanic, he found it comical as he had no ideas as to what it might be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the shields on the discs?
They are pretty thin and can get bent to touch the disc.

No I haven't, this would make sense as I've recently had all discs and a new caliper fitted. The noise started a couple of weeks later. Can the shields be removed or would you advise to leave them on.

I would leave them on, they are there for a reason.

Just check the condition, they can rust badly, and see if they are touching the discs anywhere.
Deal with what you find, they can be replaced but need the discs off I think.
