FK2 Has any member had a repair to the drivers seat fabric

Hi,I just wanted to ask fellow members/owners of a fk2 if
anyone has had to have repair to the drivers seat by a car upholsterer. Mine Has a tiny hole at the bottom of the backrest which over a period is very slowly getting larger.lts on the vertical bolster which due to getting in and out gets creased and then the crease becomes proud and is prone to rubbing and will wear over time.
Regards Fred.

I'm sure I read a thread where someone got theirs recovered. Hope they comment again as I reckon my drivers seat bolster will need it in a few years

I find my self lifting my ass over it each time I get in and out to try to reduce the wear on the bolster.. the passenger side is a nightmare to get out of without the steering wheel as an aid

Yes I couldn't agree with you more. My wife sorted of jumps out on the odd accasions she comes out with me
I never thought but isnt there a handle above to grab on to
But Im not sure if it can take someones weight. Yeh I have a technique for getting out, left Hand on steering wheel and right Hand on sill door fully open and push with my left leg and most times gain momentum to swing out. Then theres the vertical bolster I do rub it getting out but not severe. My backrest is not too steep back otherwise I get backache so I have it so it supports my back.
All the best Fred.

The fabric on these seats is so prone to scuffing!
Yes ive had my type R gt 16 months and the side bolster has slight wear but not too bad. For me its the vertical bolster that gets creased when you get in and out. The crease becomes raised and prone to wear as you rub the crease which in time wears. Mines not too bad but early on owning the car i developed a getting in and out technique which sort of avoids you rubbing the right horizontal bolster when getting in and out while at the same time avoiding rubbing against the right vertical bolster. I find getting in is the easiest. Getting out For me means i have to side my seat right back, left hand on the steering wheel , right hand on the sill with the door fully open or i sometimes kick the door with my right foot on the way out. Then lift myself out in front of the vertical bolster and over the horizontal bolster with a push from my left foot and in a swing you're out. Sometimes very occasionally I get it wrong and end up with the horizontal bolster up my rear end.Lol. when I get in once im sat on the seat I have then to move it foreward to my driving position I can't get out from my driving position.
On you tube their is a tutoriol of how to get in and out of the Type R fk8 a japanese guy can be seen demonstrating.
Over time im pretty sure ill have to get my drivers seat sorted at a car upholsterer but For the time being its not too bad. You can buy through the Honda dealership a new vertical backrest and new seat base and its expensive and requires a complete stripdown of the seat.If the dealership do it its expensive. I was advised to let a car seat specialist look first as that would be a more tailored and economic solution. Just try to minimise wear by not rubbing the horizontal or vertical bolster.
Happy motoring Regards Fred.
