EGR plate cleaning

Messages

ok so i have a accordd type R with 173k miles
it was running a little lumpy and returning poor mpg
after looking around the manifold and EGR i thought i would remove this funky looking plate on top of the intake manifold

tools:

10mm socket with extension + 1/4" ratchet

step one is to remove the 2 bolts on top of the fuel rail in the middle that holds a bracket with 2 vacuum pipes attach to it

then move the bracket and pipes to the Left out of the way
undo the 7 bolts that hold the EGR plate down onto manifold

remove and clean BOTH gasket and plate (ideally should refit new gasket) with brake and carb cleaner + brush

my egr plate was VERY bad ,caked up badly

also clean the breathing holes on the manifold, they will look very black and blocked-
i got a hoover, taped a silicone sealant tube to it to suck the crap out of it

refit and enjoy!

Results- VTEC much better-kicks in more aggressively and revs better =) great results from 10mins of work

will try and upload images -links to dropbox should work below
