Introducing Black dog!

an Ep3 type R 51 plate.

Bought as a used track car and will be upgrading over time to make faster around circuits.

Called black dog as well its a abit of a dog to look at!.

faded black paint, scratches, few dents and some paint blister on qtr panel. wheels are corroded and horrible.

car came with some added bonuses that where no in add and tbh i never spotted them til i got home and well i didnt know either lol.

spec when bought.last year....did x2 track day in as bought spec performed very well but for a small outlay improvements can be made.

prodynamic yellow speed coilovers 8kg fr rr..( Too soft for me on track).
Tegiwa roll centre front balljoints.
Toyo r888r half worn.
spare set of wheel with chinese tyres..( now binned)

standard badly welded up exhaust ( now Binned).
Skunk rear camber arms.

half way through aircon delete. belt and all piping off just gotta get front bumper off to get compressor out.
new arb link fronts.
odessey race battery.
k100 civic cup mapped ecu.
m2 silenced midpipe
Walker oem pattern back box... ( because Thruxton).
front arms poly bushed energy black.
large ramair on KnN pipe.

coilovers need 12 fr 16 rr....swap for the YS dynamics?
when clutch goes lsd and 5.4

basically gonna try and emulate the civic cup spec on a budget as they do 1.16 round combe which quite frankly is pretty darn good! I do 1.15 in my 200bhp Rotary powered Westfield on slicks weighing only 560kg so thats the target....and ive spent just under £3k so far so keeping it budget friendly....got super lucky with the car mind.

really want an LSD but in the dry only felt i was loosing out coming out of the essesses at Combe but in the wet loosing out everywhere.

cheap fun is the order of the day, ive been trackdaying for 20 plus years and now at a stage i just wanna have fun. Not about being the fastest but having 200plus miles on track in aday having the crack with mates and falling asleep on the sofa at 8pm.

All back together and fresh 12 months mot...some play on osf that was tracked down to the Yellow speed coilover top pillow ball bush...there £25 new so just a matter of removing coilovers and replacing...there coming off anyway and stiffer units going in.
Absolute bitch to bleed up radiator...and took 30 mins to trigger the fans...road test all good and heaters working so ok now.

Rx was my track car...a brush into barriers....prompted a respray...and now too scared to risk on track again hence the civic...the rx is having a little rest whilst i decide what todo with it. Mamoth job to return to pleasant daily.

That is simply stunning. I'd be the same, even more so after a full respray. They're worth top dollar these days too!
 
Mines still on fully working twin sequential turbos...its running 320bhp. Basically max 14psi for the stock turbos. But no ac no power steering and old skool heavy fierce twin plate exedy clutch. Stiff coilovers and uprated arbs.fully polybushed Big ap 6 pots up front...cobra buckets and harness. Stop start heavy traffic its like driving an old 80s lorry. But on track its sublime. Cost a fortune to convert back to roadspec as the parts as well as the cars have gone up big time.

Few little jobs on civic...took the gearbox mount off so much vibration...put the std 1 on with a insert in...alot better.
Rolled the rear lip on arches.
Junked the stereo and fitted a carbon knob i had lying about.
Im waiting to pull the trigger on new coilovers civic cup spec and thats it for this years prep unless a lsd gearbox pops up resonable money.

All loaded up for track day tomorrow!!! Can't wait see how these mods fare.
Geo done. 2 degs neg camber front rear.
1 deg toe out front.
1.5 deg tow in rear...

Epic day! Ill post up a couple of vids later...winter mods brilliant. 16kg rear coilovers transformed handling...turns in awesome! Brakes fantastic..junking ac condensor meant no cooling isssue....for car!
Ive bought an oilcooler though! And i really want a lsd!

well mods made it 2 secs quicker and handle fantastic the turn is so much better. struggled to get my head around the fact your stiffening up the back of the car so much and there is hardly any weight back there but it works no more 2 wheels through camp and turn in lovely. not a hint of light off over steer not that i lifted off ha ha. Very hot day so kept sessions short....ive since ordered an oil cooler which i will fit b4 next outing. Ill mod as i go from here i think as parts wear out upgrade. The red civic that went by had alot more mods so she held her own....and the fact im a kamikaze over avonrise made up the deficit slightly.

A day id like to forget...
Prep for next trackday fitting an oilcooler...bought a bespoke kit from ebay...
Complete nightmare supplied hoses too short..tried to mount with pipes coming out side but vtec soleniod in way.
Spent hours trying to get it to fit.
But going to Pirtek to get longer hose made up..got 1 hose on other just clears headlights...
Then my used Slick tyres turned up and 2 are bald...highly likely not tyres from piccies...

Fitted a mocal oil cooler...
Was an absolute mare to fit because 1 of the hoses was too short...

Awesome day at Thruxton...
No vids left the sd card in laptop.
But car ran faultless..overtaking lots of more expensive machinery.
Drove my mates ep3 that basically is civic cup spec...flying machine..getting half a car length on me every corner.

Is that a front left tyre? Thruxton is a killer on front left's... the track is basically one long right hander and abrasive as F......
 
Yep. Usually id rotate em or swap front to rear between trackdays but got a lot of mileage in 1 day..
