Euro R Key with broken key ring attacher any options or new key?

So i've been pretty careful with my 1 key i have for the car as sadly it came in this form

I did manage to get a mini leather cover for the key off Ebay that slots around it and lets the metal part slide through and holds it securely but the extra material means it wont go into the ignition as my car has a gizmo to guide the key which i haven't figured out how to remove

I was going after another genuine key from a scrap to swap casings but i backed out incase i made a mess of the 1 i have, the metal part is moulded in and not meant to be removed.

Any suggestions other than total new swap and programme?

Not sure why it would be any different than my FN2 for which you can buy a key blank on eBay for about £4 The internals are a sealed unit you can just swap from old fob to new and then it’s just a case of getting the key cut.

May not even have to cut the key looking at this. Any good?

Having said that I’d probably lose sleep over not having a spare key just in case so as well as the above I’d look into getting a 2nd one made up anyway if it was me!

Thanks David yes i looked at this and many other versions but never bought one,it would be ideal to just swap in the metal key bit i'm just afraid of getting to the no going back stage and what if i mess it up after this ,i'll have to take a chance on it,and i agree the spare key even just to have access through the doors would be worth it,worse case is Honda and then keep this a spare hmm
