EP3 Boost Blue

got a marketing mail from Honda on the new type r, boost blue not on the configurator still although the other updates are

What car hot hatch of the year...again...

Just had a look on the configurator. It looks like Boost blue has become Racing Blue on UK cars and Brilliant Blue is no longer available.

I got the Blues no more

Had a huge change of heart the other day over getting the Boost/racing Blue GT that I've been set on getting all year long. I had it scheduled for picking up 13-1-21. But I’ve had my doubts about getting it. I’m 55 not 35 so I’ve changed my order with my dealer. Who is quite happy to do so. He reckons the one I ordered won’t hang around too long.
So I’m now ordering a Sonic Grey Pearl Sport Line Type R. I think that will suit me much better. It’ll match my grey hairs. Just awaiting an expected delivery date. Apparently Honda aren’t giving too much away at the moment when he asks wether he can order me one.

Ahh it’s a shame as there are plenty of older owners and you had your heart set on boost blue, but I do get it. Hope your not waiting too long. I really look forward to the reviews on the sportline. I think it might go along the lines of ‘slightly less sharp, but much more comfort and compliancy on our B roads but with all the performance of the GT, a perfect gti all rounder rival’

I honestly don’t think I’d notice the slightly sharper Performance difference between the Gt and Sport line.
I currently drive a Crv Sr 1.7 diesel. And I can tell you I can drive that like a bat out of hell going thru the gears heel toe on B roads. So to go from this to any kind of type r can only be a massive improvement. It’s more about the looks that I’m taking into consideration, and not having to worry about what other people are having to say about me, “have you seen that old fart in that totally insane looking boy racer motor”. It’s the rear Wing that worries me the most.
So I’m considering changing the Vortex generators for the Tailgate spoiler option, Just to give the Sport Line look a bit more aggressive looking at the rear. What do you think. Would you change or leave it alone ?

I was 68 in March and I own a 69 reg GT in metallic grey and I reckon it’s the best car I’ve ever had after many years of GTis, (8V and 16V) and Type Rs (04, 55, and 11). Other performance hatches too.

Do I care what anyone thinks about an old grey haired guy driving a GT with an enormous wing?

Do I ****?

Just go for the boost blue and the wing :D

Nobody will have the chance to see who's driving when you scream by anyway :p

Anywhom; Call me a yob but I find the thought of people thinking / saying "Oh, look at that obnoxious car / wing / asbomobile" rather hilarious. I originally wanted grey pearl, but I'm pleased I ended up with red as it's far more in your face, look at me.

Ha haaa no way Robbie.. I Like your style mate
It’s just me, my conscience is keeping me up at night. Worrying if I’m doing the right thing or not.
I’m going to be driving my dealership round the bend now. Ha haaaa You’ve got me thinking about changing back to the Gt now. I’m going to have to have a sleep on it. If I do change back I think I might still go with the Sonic grey Pearl colour. Rather than the boy racing blue Pearl.

To continue playing devil on your shoulder; The wing is a very functional piece - Makes an excellent table when you're stopped for lunch, and it's one of the most satisfying parts of the car IMO - For the first couple of months, I'd look for the shadow of my car on the road and chuckle at the lunacy - Went so far as getting the extra wing too!

Compromise, get the GT in a less lairy colour. Honestly who cares about the people who may look down their nose, but they will be more than offset by the people who will give nice comments and respect to you for getting what you want.

I don’t think it will be good for resale value getting the sportline personally. You can argue it will be rarer but so are the number of Type S integras in the UK.

Judging by how few have sold in the UK I think these cars will quickly become very desirable as a collectible. Some of the craziest looking cars of their time later went on to be worth a lot of money. Escort RS cosworth, Lancia Delta. There are others I’m sure.

As a collector, people don’t remember the lower spec cars, they want the top model. Those black seats seem appealing right now because they’re different. Fast forward 10 years and I reckon it will be seen as a negative.

I know you buy a car to enjoy, not as an investment but in longer term ownership all those choices can make a difference of thousands. For me even boost blue is just a fad. People are going crazy for it because it’s something different. Great, go for it if that’s your bag but in the grand scheme of things CW is probably going to be the one everyone wants. It’s seen as the Type R colour.

I’ve slept several nights on it people. And I’ve put some serious thought into it.
So finally I’m going with what my heart and not with what my head says.
Been into Honda today for a look at the Sonic grey Pearl colour that I was considering changing my original order of racing blue GT. because I thought it was too flashy for an old fart like me.
I was thinking of changing to the Sport Line Type R in sonic Grey. But not only do they not do that configuration. I just don’t think that I like the colour up close and in the flesh. Looks great in pics though.
So after a long chat with my salesperson today. and also a big thank you to all you guys who gave me your opinions and Pointed me in the right direction the other day.
I’ve now finally definitely no going back decided to stick with my original order of the Racing Blue Gt.
Thanks all GTEC
