Boot Lid Digging Into Paintwork

Hi All,
I’m new on here. Wanted an fn2 type R for over 10 years and finally bought one from a friend last weekend.

I absolutely love it, just one thing though, the boot lid appears to be catching on the bodywork of the car. It’s made a bit of a mess of the paintwork and I can’t really figure out how to fix it.

Anyone seen this before or got any suggestions?
It’s not the boot lid struts that are catching, but the lid itself.

There are 2 big rubber stops on the back edge of the lid that can be adjusted by just twisting.

Are these turned all the way in or missing?

Thanks for the response, yeah the rubber stops were there, I gave them a twist but no obvious difference that I could tell. I took some more pictures I’m wondering if it’s been taken apart and not out back together properly again, as the body panel doesn’t really line up with the lights. Hopefully the pictures will show. I was wondering if the previous owner big have fitted a big mugen spoiler, and then taken it off or something like that. 32DD5B48-99FD-4435-B3A0-70AE812B41E3.jpeg5CA5A95A-E3D9-48EE-BC55-6A92027ADC9D.jpeg

You're right those gaps should not be there.

I haven't taken the tailgate apart so can't advise, someone on here will have though.

It's not been in a shunt and been poorly repaired has it?

It might well have been, one part of the tailgate does feel a bit loose compared to the other side.
I don’t think I would even had noticed if it weren’t for the damage to the paintwork.

Are there any threads or vids on here about taking the boot apart? Maybe it’s something simple.
