2004 civic ep3

I own ep3 since 2017. Nothing major changed except usual fight with age related problems.

Car is on tein street basis coilovers as replacement for tired oem parts. It is on 225/45 tires in order to compensate firm drive on our bumpy streets. Worn engine mounts repaired with ES inserts, except rear engine mount.

Only idea for near future is to buy another set of slicks or semi slick for occasional track days and to upgrade brakes with better pads and maybe hel brake lines. And of course to replace k&n sri with tegiwa, as soak of hot air is not really pleasant experience.

Few more details about ep3. During my first track day I was low on fuel and engine started misfiring and CEL returned misfire on cilinder two. We checked coil pack, spark plugs, adjusted valve clearance and for some reason it seemed that we solved problem. No strange noises from engine, no misfiring, very quiet on idle.

Few days after I sold my car to young friend and in the evening he informed me that car is throwing misfire on cilinder 2 and 4. He drove car to his mechanic who said it is common problem with bad fuel and advised him to go on highway and drive in third gear on high revs. Soon he called me and sad that car stalled and he saw white smoke behind the car.

Result you can see on picture, car had at least 5 holes on engine block. I decided to take car back and bought new engine from uk. I must say that I had really good experience with uk traders. I bought lot of part from uk and all parts were in condition as described.

Few month later I had to open gearbox and replace 1st and 2nd gear, main shaft, synchro’s etc.

Other problem were usual, 2nd lambda sensor, knock sensor, master/slave clutch cylinder, exedy clutch, oem chain and tensioner replacement, front top mounts…
