FK2 Valve Clearances

Messages

Hello,

I have recently purchased a 2016 FK2 Type R. I am looking at getting the car service in the near future. My local Honda dealer has said it is due to have the valve clearances done. Now I know this was quite a big deal on the N/A vtec units but is it still as important on the low revving FK2 turbo lump?

Thanks

Nick

I do believe so.

Just remember ideally drop the car off at the garage the night before or early in the morning if they're working on it later in the day.
The engine wants to be stone cold before checking the valve clearance otherwise you might as well not check it.

In the vast majority of cases they don't need any adjustment

Older cars may require some adjustment.

I'm doing my 2005 EP on Saturday afternoon.
Leaving it on the ramps overnight so I can jump on it when I'm ready.

I'll post back and report if any adjustment was required on that.

Left the car in the workshop overnight on Friday.

Car was stone cold this morning

Checked valve clearances - zero adjustment required :D
They were all bang on.

Swapped out the timing belt, water pump and aux belt this afternoon too.
She's running like a dream now.
