Transmission noise whilst engine braking

I have a slight grating noise in the 2.5KRPM - 4KRPM band. It sounds like the 'slurping thick milkshake' sound as described by others.

My car is a 56 plate Premier with 37k on the clock. It's under warranty and the dealership have diagnosed it as a clutch release bearing...is this a similar problem to what's being discussed in this thread?

No one knows exactly what causes the sound, I will change the input shaft bearing, so I'll see ..

No news from here, i'm just living with it. You learn to ignore it!

Great car though, still enjoy getting into it!

same problem here, makes a horrible noise when slowing down in 2nd or 3rd.
Can't believe Honda wont help.

The car didn't do it when i bought it a couple of months ago - what happens if i ever decide to sell up? It'll drop the price of the car dramatically i would have guessed?

Nah. Nothing wrong with it. Mine still does it and I had it checked as part of my service. Just one of those niggly things a type R has.

One member from this forum had the same problem,he change the Diferencial, bearings also fitted Es engine mount inserts and the sound is disappeared,i checked my engine mounts today and they are ok..but the sound is still there..sory for bad English..

yeah but how many people would buy a car (espcially a performance one) if there's a nasty noise coming from what sounds like the gearbox.....

I mean if your selling your Type-R, you can't just say "well all the guys at the Type-R forum think its ok".....

Fed up with car's, nothing but problems )

I got my civic about a year and since the 1st week that I realized a noise exactly like this one.. since then I have researched a lot and already read all the posts I found several times .. I changed the clutch 2 weeks ago and the car remained the same .. the thrust bearing was very worn and the springs in the clutch disc (oem) were loose and made noise too .. the most curious is that the new disk, also oem, brings the springs loose! Anyone know why?
Anyway, all this to say that as many here I have swapped parts and no difference in noise until this week I changed following two pulleys:
-http :/ / http://www.tegiwaimports.com/genuine-ho ... 20a2-4061/

-http :/ / http://www.tegiwaimports.com/genuine-ho ... 20a2-4095/

And the noise is gone! Before when the engine was up "pressure" on low revs in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear made a noise very annoying and very noticeable ..but once I press the clutch or put in neutral the noise disappeared..now the car is complety normal when driving!
At the moment only on idle I notice that there is still a small noise that stops when I press the clutch, like thrust bearing but I think what happens now is just caused by loose springs in The NEW clutch disc, from an original Honda kit!

Do not say it will solve your problem, but nothing like try, because less money spent trying to fix this way first!
I hope I can help someone here!

Thanks for this information, its worth a try I guess. Tom from TGM motors (a reputable garage) thought it could be loose clutch springs too, but perhaps its a combination.

I *might* buy a pulley and see what happens :)

The strange thing is that I bought my clutch kit from Honda (Cox parts) and the springs in the disc make noise! Why a new disc is with loosen springs?

Remove your aux belt and take a look in the pulleys.. I guess bearings on my pulleys were very worn!
I Know is very strange the noise coming from there but my car at the moment is normal..couple a days before change the pulleys the noise was terrible!
