Insurance

Yeah area aint exactly notting hill but it not too bad! Might try Bell for a quote as I've been looking through some posts and they seem to offer a good deal?! Does an advance driving course bring it a substancial amout or is it not worth the hassle?
Scott

Im have IAM membership but it didnt make a difference for me, might be different for you though.

Sky sorted me this year buddy. I pay £720 FC with them and I'm 27 and wrote an FN2 off two years ago so only have 1 yrs NCB. It must just be a post code thing!

Was paying £400 with admiral on the FN2, those were the days .

Confused came up with £1094 from Mymotorquote.com as the cheapest!
And compare the market came up with £1057 from Thames city insurance!
Both with compulsory excess of 3k !!!!
The search continues!!

you should try adrian flux, i'm 27 with 7yrs no claims 485 fully comp 400 excess only one year insured on my jdm ep all mods declaired they def worth a try sometimes cheaper if it is modded as there are more companies who specialise in that area for them. my first year was 650 with 400 excess no previouse performance car history either

I suffered from having little no claims through swapping cars often and cancelling policies and starting again.

I was first insured on my EP3 aged 28 with zero no claims, three points and the Spoon Exhaust and "Exterior Cosmetic Modifications" with Bell for just over £1k, £350 excess.

This year it went down to £850 with one years NCB. Changed to the FN2 and got £17 refund 3 months into the policy, then again it doesn't have the exhaust.

Sent adrian flux my details earlier on this evening so should get a ring off them tomorrow sometime. I need to sit down wiht the phone and get in touch with as many as i can i suppose speak to real people instead of relying on internet quotes?! Might just have to bite the bullet though.
Thanks everyone for your replies, you've all been more than helpful. I'll update you if & when I get any decent quotes or on the flip side equally ridiculous ones for a laugh!
Cheers again,
Scott

I think that the main issue isn't really where you live or your NCB history, it is merely the fact that insurance companies are scared to insure you due to the massive jump up in engine size. All search engines have access (obviously) to your previous history and can see that going from a 1.2 to a performance 2.0 is seen as a risk, hence the huge quotes even with NCB and your age.
I know this is the case as I had a 1.2 Corsa as my first car and wanted to upgrade to a 2 litre Clio but I essentially got laughed at and was told to gradually build up the engine capacities as that won't scare the insurance companies as much. So unless you're happy with parting with £1100 then I'd suggest buying a 1.6 and running that for a year as you should see more realistic quotes for a Type R after that..
