Insurance costs for people under 25

Hi, just a quick post as I called my existing insurance provider asking could they insure me on the type R I seen. their answer was no we'll change your policy and charge you an extra 250quid just you can not drive the car as your under 25. I've got an additional driver (my mum). So I'm gonna cancel before I get the type R

I've been quoted £940 with admiral 5 years I've had a full licence 5years ncb and one claim for a windscreen 2years ago and protected ncb (cheapest on gocompare)

Any body under 25 get any cheaper than this and who are you with

to be honest It varies very much as its different for everyone its not quite that easy, it all depends on area you live, age, ncb and some insurers even want to know what you have been driving before from my experience over the last few weeks.

My advice would be try specialist brokers as on this forum such as sky insurance, greenlight etc as they are the best people to speak to.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your search.

Oh and welcome

As above it is all to do with several factors though a major factor seems to be post code and job I'm 22 and paying ~£800 a year fully comp but my insurance quote was noticeably different when I became a qualified teacher from a student

another factor, which i think everybody on forums fail to mention is where they are based? im in SE London with all mods declared, 4 years NCB not protected, driving for 6/7 years, no accidents, points or claims, 24 years old, paying £1200 fully comp.

well im 21 with my mum named on the policy and i pay £700 fully comp with 3 yrs ncb on an 04 ctr
im with elephant which are part of the admiral group,
thing is i work for aviva and you have to be 25 to be insured on these cars from them.
cant wait to hit that age and get some good ole staff discount too :)

I've just been looking for quotes for next year, 05 CTR. 4 years NCB, no accidents, claims or driving convictions. 24 years old (when the policy is due). Best I could find was £1500 lump sum payment only. Thats £200 more than last year when I still had 3 points on my licence and the car was new to me... WTF is going on?

Try Sky Insurance on here.

Post Code plays a big big part in the price.

Admiral/Elephant i've always found to be very good price wise.

22yo
license 4 years
2NCB (no accidents)
"B" Rated postcode
parked in driveway
SDPC
unlimited mileage
mods declared (wheels, suspension, exhaust, air filter etc)
no-one named on policy
3pts (PC30, Apr 2006, £60 fine)
2 years previous history in "performance cars" (Celica GT-Four and 2.2 Converted Civic)

2005 Civic Type-R Premier - £860 one off yearly payment :)

try tiger.co.uk mate for me it knocked another 50 off of my admiral quote from gocompare was pretty wierd because everything i entered was exactly the same as the gocompare site triple checked it im 24 licence for 4 years 3 years ncb no claims ever, if i remember correctly dont enter in your windscreen claim and just tell them about it when you ring too as i dont think they raised it for me , as my mum had one and shes a named driver on my policy hope this helps buddy

windscreen claims are considered ''non fault'' ... so if you do declare it online where it says was this your fault just put No

I'm 22, 3 years ncb, 1 none fault claim 3 years ago based near kings Lynn. My best price was admiral at 1100. I thought it was crap but it seems everyone's has gone up, as it was a new car for me too makes it more expensive,

Which mod friendly companies will insure under 25s ? As most of the time these companies are good on loads of mods but once you break the 150 bhp bracket they just won't touch you, even if 150 bhp plus is the standard cars power.

Ive been looking for insurance for a 05 Civic Type r, ipswich suffolk, 4years ncb 5 years driving, added old man on insurance cheapist Admiral group 1070 comp again we above insurance seems to have gone up, massively!! 37% i heard on the news

2 years NCB aged 20. Admiral wanted 180 a month, on the multi-car policy it goes down to 154 so im with that. Multi car gives great discounts for the entire household, whilst separate the claims/bonuses/different main drivers etc for each vehicle.

I', going to pay 1k a year for fully comp with all the trimmings with Bell. I'm also 23 with 3 years ncb.

I just went to Admiral and they quoted me 2k? 5 NCB, 22 years old, living in a quiet part of Derbyshire, what the hell?!
