Milano Red Paint Restorer? Help

Messages

Hi Everyone,

I hope i'm posting this in the right section.
I'm off to view a 54 plate Milano red EP3 CTR on Saturday which is based in Gloucestershire. Its got everything going for it in terms of mileage, service history and general condition but I have been told the paint has faded slightly.

The front & rear bumpers apparently still look very fresh but the paint on all the body panels has faded slightly over the years (as you would expect with a red car)

I just wanted to know how I would go about restoring the paint to its former glory and which products I should be using? I'm quite into my car cleaning but I want to make sure I get the right products so any help/advice would be appreciated

Cheers

Ben,

if its faded under the top coat theres nothing you can dom theres quite a few posts on this if you have a quick search bud.

To follow what Jordbalboa said (IIRC) it's due to Honda using ***** UV protection within the Lacquer which fades the red pigment in the paint underneath the lacquer so no amount of polishing will resolve it :(

Mine was stupidly bad so I ended up getting it resprayed in Champ White and have never looked back :)

Nothing will bring the paint back mate. You can machine polish it and get it in good condition but it will only be shiny in the colour it is now. The only way to get Milano back properly is a respray im afraid!

Cheers for the replys guys

I went to see it and the paint was literally awful, totally gone beyond repair i'm afraid.
Its a real shame because the car was brilliant but it did require a full respray and they cost around £2K for a top job.

Got myself a Black Type R yesterday instead :D Happy days

lol easy sort bro, Just use a Headed Mop with a wool mop head there on ebay. Also use G3 REG GRADE PASTE PAINT CUTTING COMPOUND then glaze to bring the shine back out.

Headed Mop:

G3 Compound:

Don't buy this crap from halfords there sh*t and don't work:

Also remember to have a spray bottle with water when using G3 it will remove the paint if its gets to hot :)

Trust me bro i do this for a living i see many cars with faded paint and people don't understand how easy it is to sort out.

I wouldn't recomend a first timer to use a wool head, and a compound, on CTR paint. The polisher you linked is a Ketrel DA.
