2007 car by any chance?

Very common problem. If you still have dealer warranty get it fixed by them. If not it will be quite an expensive fix.

Issue #2

Yea is a 2007 model thanks :) umm I have warranty from garage just bought off

Take it to them with a print out of the image as soon as you can. Get documentation if you can that you've informed them of the issue and what date.

It is a well documented issue that all main dealers will know about. Since it was sold to you with the issue, independent garage or not they should fix it. Honda probably won't do it under manufacturer warranty unless you bought it from a main dealer.

If it was an independent I'd advise them to get Honda to do the work though unless you trust them to do it.

If they refuse to fix it you are well within your rights to get Trading Standards involved so you could mention that as a last resort. They won't want TS snooping around I'm sure.

Take it from me though if you leave it, the issue does get worse.

Cheers spoke to Honda and not intrested and where bought car from I've spoke to and got to take bit of paper up and they will access it and I will get done or they have the car back!

At least that's something.

Would be a shame to give the car back now you've got it but it would be better than living with it.

Let us know how you get on.

Glad it's sorted mate, who did it, Honda or where you bought it from?

No. Just buy one that's previously been fixed under warranty.

Was it just the 2007 model ? Ive been looking at 2008-2009, however you dont know if a 2008 was just sat there for 12months before being registered..

It's a general fault on the 07 model, but a quick fix once it's in at Honda. I had mine done shortly after buying it and it's been fine since.

You can tell from the VIN what year it was manufactured, and yes very possible a 2008 car was manufactured in 2007 and would have the problem.

VIN breakdown (made up VIN):

SHHFN23707U000258

FN2 is the Type R,

next two digits are the body type and spec,

07 would be the manufactured year.

How much did it cost to get it sorted ?

Warranty.

This is the notes sheet, item #3. It is about £90(ish?) an hour at main dealers. Parts are £270 on top of that.

Top man ! Im now armed with a bit of info for when i go looking at some FN2's. Close to a few honda specialists (TDI being one) so would probably go there instead of main dealer.

thanks again, and sorry for a million and one questions, trying to keep relevant stuff in the right place to not be annoying.

£66 an hour at TDi-North then, at however long they rate the job at. Parts will remain the same as they are mean dealer best prices.

If you are looking at a 07/08 one you can always ask if they have had the 3/4rd gear synchro replaced. If they look at you blank, you know not to bother. ;)

I've not had a single problem with mine into 3rd since I had it done under warranty so the fix really does do the job.

Bit of an old thread to bring up but I've just noticed this problem on my FN2 I bought 2 days ago. Do I literally just take that piece of paper into the dealer and tell them to fix it?

Thanks!
