My NHB FN2

Hi...

I've been on here for a few months now and read many of your guys' threads I thought it was about time I show my baby... It's not got any mods yet, been getting used to the motor, never had anything quite like the CTR previously!

I mainly have visual modifications planned, but need to save my £££'s (which seems impossible, I just waste it every month in s**t!). Have bought a set of EP3 wheels that were intended for winter use but never got round to doing anything with them, so they have just been refurbed (look mint now in Gun Metal!) not sure whether to use them or sell them for a set of wheels I have my eye on from a local shop?!

So anyway I've had her since September 2011, bought from a dealer with 5500 miles on the clock! It has 4 dealer service stamps too!!! KACHING!!! - I never even went to the garage to buy a car (as I had a nice little motor anyway) went along with my dad as he was interested in a 1.8 EX he had seen on the internet, but I saw her, asked if I could have a go and couldn't get her out of my head, went back 2 days later and the deal was done!

I have taken it upto 8.5k now so getting much more confident in it!

And of course I put on the forum sticker!!!

Not the best pictures ever as they are from my phone, when I take some better ones will post...

Mod's considering doing...

Interior - Has to be a Double Din, but that would be all!

Exterior - Want the GP Kit Front and Rear
Possibly some new Wheels

Performance - K&N Performance panel filter - any good?
SAMCO hoses (more bling I know!)
FRSU (and if I do probably the Eibach progressive spring kit!)
Upgraded brake pads and fluids and 6 line braided hose lines - which are most recommended?

Also adding a pic of my previous two cars my (MiTo, Rover 25 which My brother drove it for a while before chopping it in! And I can't find my first car which was a Metro Rio!!!)

I will update when I do my additions but its gonna be very slow progress as I said earlier I have some sort of un-discovered wasting money on s**t syndrome!!! haha

Thanks for looking (sounds abit eBayish but whatever!)

Very clean :)

There's various kits out for brake lines, not all are mot friendly, stop tech and good ridge are a safe bet from what I can gather. Ferodo ds2500, cosworth streetmasters, ebc in various flavours seem to be the most favoured for pads. I've got a k&n coming tomorrow probably just be a placebo though ;)

You can get some nice jdm radiator and oil caps, reservoir socks etc for a little bling factor as well as your hoses.

What year is your car?

were did you buy your k&n from?

car is looking nice!! what a step up from the alfa IMO

I got my k and n from opieoils got my forum discount for it and 5l of Fuchs Titan 5w40 oil on special :)

When you sign up to opie there's an option to tell the. Which forums your on for a discount :) look at oilmans profile on here!

K&n has made a noticeable difference I'm stunned, throttle is sharper and the induction noise has a bit more suck and growl i'm very pleased !

Little (and very basic) update!

painted my callipers, i know some think its too done but i like it - went for red, plus it ties in with the bits of red detail through the car... Took my ages to get the front to done so am having to get myself out of bed in the morning :( as it my last day off until next weekend and who knows what the weather will do?! I think I'm going to get a drop of black hammerite to detail the TYPE R emboss on the calliper.

I finally bought a claying kit yesterday too... Went for the meguiars kit from halfrauds, was a bit nervous at first - I had visions of rubbing clay over the car and the paint just flaking off, how stupid was I, found it soooo easy and the finish is like nothing I've ever been able to accomplish before, looking at it now I want a polisher too, so that I can get those annoying swirls that are just too stubborn to do by hand... If anybody has any advice on what I should look out for it would be greatly appreciated - I haven't a clue!

I have also changed the spark plug cover, bought a cover from the for sale section on the Civinfo forum and put a bit of work into it, haven't got a picture yet as the light was failing so will get one up tomorrow!

Anyway next up is a Double Din - or - a wheel refurb! - I'm more show than go at the minute!

I've also been looking at spi-vision and have attached some photos of a random civic with it on, what are your opinions? (apologies if I've stolen pictures of your car, it was on a companies Facebook!)

So the other day I did my rear callipers red to match the fronts! Also changed the oil cap to an aluminium one (non descript!) and also put a little work into a spare plug cover I purchased on the Civinfo forum for £10! I really like it, so much so I have now bought a second hand manifold cover to do so it matches! What you guys think?

I've not actually done the lights, it's not my motor, just for illustration purposes!!! It's called spi-vision, really cheap actually and apparently easy to do yourself!mi would do the type r in black but don't want to buy a whole pot of hammerite to do so, so asking everybody if they have any I could steal or borrow!!!

how is the 'spy vision' installed? is it painted on or is it like a film?

good luck with the hammerite, if i had any i could assist but none to hand

As far as I'm aware it's a simple to fit film... Up close it looks a little like net iirc! It's popular as it can be used on the Perspex rear window on the FN2, which has proven to be a right pain in the rectum for a fair few people with tinted windows!

I don't know what to do... AS you can see I have done only cosmetic bits on my car thus far... I want to do some track driving but down right refuse to put my everyday car on the track... Now I've been loooking for a while at buying another car for little monies, stripping it (and getting back some of the cost) and having it for the track... But If I did this what would I need insurance wise? It would be garaged and used just for the afore mentioned would likely be driven to the tracks!

I really like the Idea of a Scooby or (more so) an EP3 - mainly because having and FN2 ive learnt a little about R's!!!

An integra would make a cracking track car IMHO, dc2s can be had for Sensible money and there's a huge amount of tuning parts for them :)

Finally got my battery tie strap fitted today, battling against the rain... At first I didn't think it was going to fit, but had no issues once the OEM was off!

Also I've got my double din fitted and running, after some initial issue's with fitment got it all in flush and couldn't be happier! The audio output has improved so much I am genuinely surprised! Much better bass, and much improved overall sound! I fitted Pioneer AVH-2400BT - highly recommended!
