FK2 FK2 general discussion

I've just dug out last year's service sheet and under valve clearances it says ALL type R's every 25k,
I'll look at the sheet when he's going through it and point it out, I did mention it on the phone but as said all I got back was "the last type R, it's not needed on this one"

Grantham dealer comes highly recommended but it's a 40 minute drive and valves will be another all day wait and another day wasted off work :(

Does anybody know if it's plug in checked, I vaguely remember something mentioned at the end of my FN2 ownership

Valves are meant to be 25k. Mine needed doing at 19k. Newbury honda did mine 3 weeks ago.

According to the tick sheet, new petrol civics included type R is now 75k, I'll get a picture up later but even the manager agreed it contradicts itself, but yeah Honda have now changed it,
All to do with these 5 year service plans because the owner will have a big bill, he told me that in a whispery sly way

Can't get a picture, phone can't focus on the print but they have added an extra line at the end of the list,
"New petrol civics from 2017 onwards inc Type R 75'000"
I did point out that mine is a 2015 though and he said the obvious "they're the same engine though" and he then pointed out the 2012 onwards print,
But it then contradicts itself at the beginning by saying ALL Type R's 25k

I'm happy with the explanation and it's there in black and white, and he did say they will happily do them but it's basically pointless

shame it's tied to a service stamp. i'd be doing 'em myself.
i've another 800miles before mine is due - just getting the nagging at every ignition on atm.

interesting to see what i get done, although if it's outside of the 5yr servicing, it'll likely be going to TDI or Dream for servicing. I've a lot more faith in an independent than stealerships. There is a honda specialist slightly north of birmingham but doesn't seem that well known or spoken of (Honda HQ in Walsall). was recommended on one of the farcebook groups

Not that I need brakes but thinking ahead before the MOT,
I've noticed TDI are selling EBC disks with rears that match the fronts (always niggled me) I know EBC pads get mixed reviews so does anyone have any experience with their discs

i was actually asking the same questions before i went with these DBA's.
while TDI are a bit biased as they sell 'em, they did say EBC have been working to improve quality from their past kit.
i had their turbo groove discs 15yrs ago and thought they were junk. horrible wear patterns.

for the price, i'd definately be considering their grooved range.
In the end, I figured the cooling design, mass and lack of drilled holes of the DBA's will handle track use better. 2peice discs were unjustifiable vs DBA cost.

I may well go for EBC rear discs when those are due for replacement.

Been eyeing up the brakes on dream this morning, the tarox look lush but with no intention of tracking it's a lot of money just for looks

found myself contemplating a stiffer engine stabiliser bar. while none exist, the recent acuity shift base bushes that are for the USDM Si got me wondering how many other bits might work for us.
based on pictures, http://hasport.com/store/index.php/mounts/civic/fg4/fg4rr.html looks a very close match to the one on the FK2 (http://www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/15-ctr-12.jpg). I've emailed HAsports to see if they'll give dimensions. lets see if their interested in dealing with us...

it's surprised me just how much movement the stock ones have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEpRvG2ylsw

good news guys, not sure how, but HASport have confirmed it'll fit the 9G typeR. now just gotta find a suitable supplier as they wont ship direct to UK.

did anyone ever try fitting the lower rear door seals off the standard civic to the fk2? I seem to remember something about it a few years ago but can't remember the outcome

Think I'm going to bite the bullet on those seat rail cover caps, I'll see if Cox Honda can better Tegiwa before ordering

was tempted by 'em till i saw the price. £60!
i'd be waiting for a sale on tegiwa (summer sale probably next?) or keep an eye on ebay for a scrap 9gen and get 'em cheaper that way.
