So I thought it was about time that I wrote a build thread after being on TRO for over a year without one!
So I got an EP3 after a little prang while I was waiting at traffic lights on the way to work wrote off my old MK4 GTI.
I liked the car till Kent fire and rescue turned it in to a convertible. It handled like crap but was a great motorway cruiser! It had grunt where it was needed and was surprisingly cheap to run.
So after a desperate hunt for a new car while driving a MK6 GTI I had the thirst for something a bit more bonkers. I looked at a bunch of cars but the Civic Type R was a clear winner.
While desperately scanning through auto trader my Mrs spotted this 30[SUP]th[/SUP] anniversary EP3. Low mileage and red interior made up for the poor quality of the outside.
I did my checks on the car and viewed it, got a great deal private sale from London and drove it home for a 3-4 hour journey throw the first Friday night of the London riots! A journey that should have taken 1 hour!
I don’t have photos from when I first got the car but the alloys looked like the owner had tried their own diamond cutting by driving miles on end along curbs, so this was the first thing to be fixed. I had them grinded down and re finished in black.
I then got some replica Mugen pedals
Next was the vey removal of the old CTRO sticker where the 30[SUP]th[/SUP] anniversary sticker should be.
I then got some TRO stickers, and some red H stickers for the centre caps.
Also got a Hondata modified air box from ‘simon25’ on here. No pictures I’m afraid, but he had done a top job!
Some rat bag stole my number plates while in Tonbridge Wells so got some new ones.
Also changed my side lights for orange ones while putting new head lights in. Just to be a bit different.
BEFORE
AFTER
I got a little ASIMO and a Honda Racing Canard from injection imports.
I changed my brake discs and pads for Brembo OEM replacements. While at it I sandblasted my callipers and painted them red. And also put some Do-Luck braided lines in.
‘CSB’ was selling a weighted Skunk2 gear knob, another easy transaction!
Some random Pictures
I have a Bluetooth stereo single din Sony coming soon so will update when that comes. Read a lot of posts here saying that there is no need for a fascia so I’ll give that a go. Need to find an adaptor cable.
