Ry4n's charge-cooled JRSC'd EP3 (new project)

Okay, thought I'd post up a little build thread.
I previously had a satin ep3 with the jrsc.uploadfromtaptalk1372794619842.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372794639099.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372794672483.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372794712974.jpg

Had it for 3 years and had lots of fun. However I wanted a little bit more power from it and so decided to do the dc5 conversion and install a charge cooler. I spent most of the winter stripping it down and installing a number of modifications. Took it to Tdi - North in March for a remap. Managed to pull 344bhp and 221lbft @8psi! Well chuffed with the results. So back home i went with a massive smile on my face. The smile lasted all of 4 days as I rolled it into a field. Gutted.....yes! Stupid.....very much so!
Here's a few pictures of the car after.uploadfromtaptalk1372792994383.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372793023377.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372793042628.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372793070576.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372793099467.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372793752537.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372793893975.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372793929775.jpg

Fortunately the insurance were very good. Settled for 5.5k for a standard type-r as I was keeping all mods. Bought the car back for £160.

Didn't hang around long, the following week I had another civic in my driveway. This time it's a pre facelift milano. Had everything apart from an engine, exhaust, and ecu. Picked it up for £1k which wasn't too bad! Here's a few pictures of the new civic.

Not a big fan of how it looked. Paint was faded, lacquer pealing, couple of car park dent. Time for a respray.
so I asked a while back what colour i should do. Keep it red or something else. After a long time deciding (as some of you will remember lol), I decided to go with purple. Specifically the Audi R8 velvet purple.
As I had some spare funds lol I decided to do a facelift conversion too!
Went down to the body shop tonight and took a few pictures. Here are some from the other day and tonight.uploadfromtaptalk1372794342650.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372794353962.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372794365291.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372794389615.jpguploadfromtaptalk1372794409654.jpg

Once it's out the bodyshop ill be transplanting everything from my old satin to this one.
I'll post up the spec when I start building.
Cheers

Good luck with the build mate R.I.P the satin. It will be the first EP3 purple I've seen!

Glad this is moving a little faster for you now. Looking forward to seeing it in purple.

I didn't think you would ever make a decision on the paint colour  were you injured in the RTA?

Lol i know, it took a while. Was extremely lucky with the crash. The back end stepped out causing me to go on other side of the road. There was a car coming the other way. I managed to correct the car avoiding a collision with the on coming car. However the cars back end then went the other way which was pretty much uncontrollable. Went into a field, narrowly missing a tree. The car hit the grass on the rear and flipped end to end. Car landed the correct way up, took my seat belt off, opened the door and stepped out! So I was pretty lucky!
One person who is probably a lot luckier than me was my passenger. My friend was sitting in the passenger seat with no belt on, and even worse than that.....The seat was not bolted to the floor. I had stripped the car out previously and just placed the seat back in as I had no space in my garage! I remember the seat being whipped across in front of my eyes during the crash! So I guess somebody up there liked us! No injuries. :D

Edit*
Forgot to mention that my friend got out the car about 30 seconds previous!!

 you're going to get flamed for that, but yes you're right, massively lucky.

I suppose you learn from mistakes lol. Be cool to see the finished article though, looks promising.

Well, got the car back yesterday. Well chuffed with it!! Took a few quick pictures to give you an idea of what it looks like, but will get some better shots of it once it's all done. I might spray my wheels gloss black now that I've seen the car. Although, the silver does contrast pretty well. Let me know what you guys think. The lighting is really poor in my garage which doesn't do the colour much justice.
Can't wait till its drivable lol:D

That looks awesome, proper awesome. Get it out of the garage and stop taking pictures with a potato. Glossy paintwork demands SLR/hi-res. :D

Get some decent shots done man!

Oh & remember to bolt in your passenger seat this time

Thanks a lot guys, glad it turned out well. Was starting to stress about it when it was away.
Fortunately myself and a few friends have leased a small unit with a lift which will come in real handy for putting the engine in! certainly beats using jacks and axle stands to do it lol. Hopefully making a start on monday. Will keep you guys posted!
Cheers

Decided to crack on with the build yesterday and took the car over to our unit. Took a couple pictures before I put her inside.
What a difference it makes having a proper place to work on your car with all the tools you need! Compressors, white heat, car lift!! Spent Sunday afternoon and night, and again today working on it. Managed to swap fuel lines and tank, complete rear end including camber arms, coilovers, jdm roll bar, break lines. Tonight I managed to transport the engine over and basically placed it in lol. So much easier now with the lift and engine hoist, it certainly beats crawling on the floor whilst using jacks like the last time! Anyway, a few pictures of the latest progress.
