iv been driving round in hot hatches since the 90s,back then cars were getting stolen left right and center! most the people on this site will be to young to remember i guess.there was always burnt out cars dotted around and you would always be hearing about cars being stolen and broken into.its much calmer times now a days as security has much improved.old escort/astra etc locks and security were basically **** back then apart from the clifford alarms,i remember them being good.my first car was a nova gsi, well cool back then...erm well kinda for a 17 years old,i used to have sleepless nights worrying it was going to get stolen!! i then had a number of fords,a few escort rs turbos and a sierra cosworth, the insurance premiums were massive but they were great fun, then moved onto french cars, clio 16v,172,172 cup,205gti and finally onto my ep3 which is a great car.i have been very lucky over the years as none were stolen or broken into, touch wood....my advice to people is get a good steering wheel lock,(great deterrent),never leave anything on show and be very careful where you park your car!! ;)

So the new drama over BMWs having their keys coded and cars with keyless entry aren't being stolen easy? Car crime is still rife  have you moved to a cave?
