What oil would you use? An old question i know!

I wouldn't trust a honda tech as far as I could throw them.

5w40. Tried, tested, trusted.

0w30 if you live in siberia.

The thinner oils burn off more easily. I ran 0w40 once (out of circa 20 oil changes) in my ep3. I found it to be noisy on the valvetrain and burnt for fun. Would never use again.

Yeah that's what he said it burns quicker 0w-30 but recommended 5w-30 is the best. So you think 5w-40 Castrol edge is the best ? I'm doing a service on my car soon as just gone past 75k mikes. New engine and gear oil. Air filter. Pollen filter and spark plugs. Honda charge over £500 for this I can get the parts for about £150. Do you recommend best place to get parts? I was going to get the service kit at Cox motor parts.http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/genuine-honda-civic-typer-major-service-kit20012005-p-1325.html thanks for help

0w oils are fine, but the consensus is that they are a little thin. They will get to temp quicker but you might find the engine will burn through it quicker. As I posted earlier, I'm using Castrol Edge 5w40 and it runs great. 5w30 will also be fine. Make sure you use a good quality, fully synthetic oil and get the engine up to temp before driving it hard.

Manufacturer is pretty irellevent. If you like castrol, use castrol. Personally, I get whatever was on offer at opie.

£500 for a service is scandelous. Never take your car into honda for anything would be my advice. A reputable specialist will be half that price.
