8th Gen Accord - Manual vs Auto

Messages

Looking at changing the missus' CRV to a 8th Gen Accord Tourer.

I've found a nice EX GT but it's automatic. Never owned or even driven one but the Internet has said it's very good.

Any opinions on them or automatic gearboxes in general?

The auto's are great but quite rare. I had an ES GT with a manual box and the i-DTEC engine. Fantastic car, very comfy, 50+ mpg on the motorway, pretty punchy when you need and half decent stereo.

http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/ is a decent forum for info with some helpful people on there.

If you are getting a diesel then be aware of DMF issues, though I'm not sure if they are as much of an issue with the auto 'box.

Thanks.

I was after a ES GT. Seems well spec'ed for the money and not many EX GT's about.

Not read about the DMF issues. Will have a look.

I can't remember what the EX offers over the GT if I'm honest, but they are more sought after.

Also look into DPF issues as well if you're getting a diesel. They can be problematic if used for short journeys. Two options usually, get rid of it and a remap, or get them fixed which can cost a fair bit.

Never had an issue with mine except for the USB input stopped working,

Few extras like NAV, heated seats, electric tailgate, parking sensors and some other bits.

Already researched about the DPF. Remap and get rid of seems the best option. Nice torque increase with a remap too.

Found a Auto near by so may go have a look and test drive on weekend.

Mine had nav and parking sensors, boot lid was manual and the seats were only half leather.
