Insurance gone up by 4400???

Hello, i'm just looking for abit of help. Im 21 with 3 years no claims, driving for 4 years. Ive had many cars (insured with the same company admiral) first car at 17 being a bmw 320i, then a clio 2.0, cooper s works, e91 325d estate... And then my car now 2003 ep3 type r. All insured with the same company.

My car is a 2003 ep3 with spoon exhaust and eibach springs. Last year i paid £1300 with all my mods declaired and with one added driver, my mother.

In June i had an incident where a full size mercedes sprinter van went into the drivers side of my car while i was more-or less stopped at a red light. The driver fully admitted liability for the accident and it is down as a non fault accident by me. Which will not effect my no claims as my car was repaired by the third party.

My insurence is up for renewal on the 29/09/2015 Admiral contacted me with a renewal price, which was an absolute shocking £5,700! I'm absolutly shocked too be honest. Ive been with the company ever since ive been driving, i've always had high powered cars, never had an issue. I was really disappointed as i love my ep3 and i looked for almost a year to find this specific one.

I got in contact with the company and asked why the insurence had increased by £4400. The first excuse was that all insurence has gone up for under 25's. But surely not by this amount. She then stated that it could be a number of different aspects. One being the fact i have had a accident, although not my fault it puts me as high risk.

I feel really angry, as i feel that being in accident which is not my fault. Shouldn't mean that my insurnce should go up by £4400 Theres nothing that I could of done, i am not high risk.. I was driving legally within my lane when someone else drifted into my path.

I have tried everything mutlicar policys with my parents, taking the mods off, nothing seems to be helping. Ive tried other company's and there saying the same thing. Im in a position now where i think £5700 outweighs the cost of my car, i could pay this but i feel it's wrong.

if anyone has been in a similar position, or can give me any advice it would be great! Ultimately this could be the moment where i have to sell my car if i cant sort something out, and i really don't want to sell it... I love it, its got 33,000 miles on the clock  .. And its been such a great car to drive.

Ouch! That's pretty harsh! I would suggest shopping around for a better quote!

The unfortunate reality is that even though your accident was a non-fault claim, it still bumps up your premium, sucks I know!

They always try to rape you on renewals too.

As Krzys says, shop around on compare sites and give all the specialists a ring (a lot don't cover under 25's but there are a few on here also that will cover you)

Im sure they will be along soon to comment

Exact same thing has happened to me, my renewal has went up a huge amount, so much so that I am going to view a crz this weekend! No way am I parting with the money they want!

Well i put in a 1.2 polo 2005 in and they are quoting me 3250! I understand that it bumps up your premium. But its hard to jusitfy 4grand. Shopped around and its just not budging. What annoys me is that it would of been cheaper to just leave the car way it was it was still driveable. Looks like the car has to go!

Have you tried ringing them asking how they can warrant that increase? I did that once and mine came down a bit I did kick up quite a stink though.

I was furious on the phone as you can imagine, they then passed my case onto pricing department, she stated the main factor was the accident. They said the main thing is that they put my details into the computer and this is what they got. They have managed to get it down £70 by stating my car is on the driveway. I don't think i have a choice ideally id like to store it. I've recently bought a tegiwa induction, camber bolts drop links, manifold, spoon rocker cover. So its a even bigger kick in the teeth :/ theyve only told me the price on the 11th so ive got a week to sort something out :(

When this happens, don't even bother wasting time calling the company. Change. They do this to effectively remove risks they do not want to cover anymore. By charging a patently obscene figure they expect you to walk away.

In lay mans terms they're telling you to get f*cked

The cheapest quote i have got is on a 1979 2.3 ford cortina for £591. But then a 1.2 polo is over 3 grand??? I really don't get it.

Try brentache, they covered me at 21 with 3 points and 1 non fault claim for less than 1k all mods declared. Although that was with 4 years no claims
